They phoned both. Landline first and then my mobile0 -
Hi all though I would update my process so far..
This is Essex region BTW...
30-March...sent back CRB disclosure
28 April.. rang DWP and was told that CRB was sent for checks approx 14 Apr and I should wait 20 working days from there...
19-May - Rang DWP again... they say CRB checks are still pending! So I'm inclined to believe that there is a backlog of sorts at disclosure scotland.
(Sidenote: I had a standard CRB check sent away 2 weeks ago and I received that back in the post yesterday so there was no backlog there!)
The lady I spoke to at Newcastle yesterday told me they cannot give out my interview score but told me I am 54th on the merit list... I don't know if anyone in the area from my recruitment has been taken on yet but I doubt it as most of the CRBs would have been sent in bulk.
So I am still just as uncertain, but hopeful, as I was before...
It is good to see that some people on here are getting their start dates etc.. It is just a waiting game for me from now on as I am assured over and over that Newcastle will call me if they need anything.
I also applied in Essex and I'm 23rd on the AO list and about 200th on an EO list of over 300 people (gutted). All my checks were back (inc CRB) about a week and half ago and I've still not heard anything. I know they have taken a couple of new people on my local jobcentre and they have over 20 positions to fill. Hope this helps.0 -
Hello!
Ive been reading the posts here with interest and I thought I'd add my story!
Asked to attend the tests for the EO roles on 18th April, successful and attended the interview the next day.
I received my letter to say that I have been successful on Friday 15th May & that it was obviously subject to recruitment checks etc. I'd already filled out a Disclosure Scotland form and handed it in on the interview day.
There was no mention of waiting lists on my letter, only that I'd have to wait for recruitment checks....should I be worried do you think?!! Its just that I had already been offered a job (also Govt!:p) as an Editorial Office Coordinator for the 2011 Census and filled out a Disclosure Scotland form, for it, so when I received this job, I then told my other job that I'd have to turn it down...so Id been waiting for 6 weeks already for the original job - they were about to offer me a start date, but Id prefer obviously the DWP one. I hope I have made the right decision!
Id be interested to know of anyone else who has applied for the jobs in the Hampshire area - my test & IV was at Southampton Football Club and I asked for locations in the Portsmouth area....? x0 -
Plus - I haven't worked since Feb, Im desperate to start!!! EEEK, fingers crossed it works out ok......!!!0

I dont want to get your hopes up but I think if you get the successful letter then you are in the running for a job. If you get the waiting list letter then you are only offered a job if others in the successful group either fail checks, turn the job down or leave within 12 months.0 -
:T
Thank you for that!
I'll try not to get my hopes up - but then at the moment I have to think positive after turning the other one down, hopefully Ill hear some good news soon then. Ill wait a couple of weeks at least before bothering them with anything!
It does sound like you are right - it said I'd been successful and that they were doing recruitment checks, so that sounded pretty positive to me. I already had to pay for a CRB check for the other job I went for, received my certificate back within 1 week of posting, so I know that will all be ok (not that I have a criminal record mind you, but I dont trust computers sometimes to get it right!!!)
Would still love to hear from anyone who had interviews in Hants and if they have anything further so far....0 -

Hiya, just thought i would say that this isnt correct! Every area works differently. People in some areas are placed on waiting lists until the job centres in that area finialise how many people are required, how much funding they can get and when they can facilitate the correct training procedures for so many people! I am currently on a waiting list and I have just been told that i am guaranteed a job and so is everyone else on the waiting list. No one on my waiting list recieved the 'successful' letter, everyone recieved the 'you are on a waiting list' letters.
Although, If you do recieve the successful letter then you have filled the inital capacity the job centres in that area needed, for instance if there was 20 positions and you came 19th on the interview scores.
There is still hope for those on the waiting lists, you just need to find out how your area is operating the recruitment process.0 -
So, I see there are more London EO posts that have been put up on the DWP website today. Very puzzling then that I am still waiting to be posted as an EO in one of those areas.
The more I know about this process, the less I understand:rolleyes::idea:0 -
kellycontrary ....
I applied for EO position in Hampshire & Isle of Wight. I was in the batch before you though. I had my tests and interview on the same day - 16th Feb. I was offered a position on 1st May and started on 11th May.
Since I have started, I understand that some internal applicants applied later than me and had their interviews mid-April - they are just being offered positions now.
Anyway, that is just to give you an idea of my timescale. Hope you hear soon!0 -

Do you know that to be a definite fact, for all regions? There have been a lot of conflicting reports in this thread, and as a 'waiting list' candidate, I'd like to know how much effort to put into finding something else!0
