Thanks! I hope so too! My checks are completed, I received my CRB back last week. They have also got a copy of it - so at least I know that's out of the way! Samesamebutdifferent and Reebok, have you received your CRBs back?

Hi there, I have received my CRB (original returned to me about two weeks ago, maybe a bit longer, from the HR dept in Newcastle). I'm starting the role next week, and still yet to receive any paperwork confirming I have the role. Has anyone else had this problem? I chased it up last Monday and the person I spoke to in HR (again I also think I have the not particularly helpful HR contact) who said that letters were in the post, but I'm afraid it really came across as though he couldn't be bothered, he didn't even take my name !! anyway, ... still nothing, so I chased it again today, but also could not get through on the contact number I have for HR. This is really, really frustrating. Technically, unless I have a formal offer or something in writing, I don't really have a job !!! Should I just turn up on the strength of a couple of phone calls, and hope the rest follows in due course? Am I right to assume I will get the advertised salary for EO and the contract period advertised? I have seen the comments about office move etc etc, but given the major recruitment at the moment, surely all contact does not come to a standstill ??!! Any advice on alternative, new contact numbers for HR would be very much appreciated !!

Hi - I'm in the same boat. I start next week and have not had any paper work - quite nervous as i've had to give my notice - i'm really not going to be impressed if it's not permanent as stated in the job i applied for.

Hi there, good to know I'm not the only one in this position, but the lack of paperwork, and only having one contact number which is now a dead line is really worrying. I feel like going into the Jobcentre where I am starting, to ask for their assistance, but then it's not exactly their remit to send paperwork because HR haven't !! And who wants to rock the boat before you've even done one day's work !!!! I know the job I applied for was an 18 month fixed term contract, but I've noticed a few people stating on this forum that they have been given shorter contracts than stated. Without anything in writing, nothing is certain !!

if you haven't had a posting letter ring up and ask if they can email you it!

I'd do that for anyone who asks!

Hi there, I am trying but the only contact number I have is not in use now. I'm afraid however, that not all the HR staff are as helpful as you are, it felt like I was totally 'fobbed off' when I rang to chase paperwork last week.

I think they've all got sick of us because the HR number that I have got seems to have been disconnected!! Oh well...

Reebok, we both have the same recruitment officer. So far I do not think he has been very helpful, but perhaps that's because he is none the wiser about the whole process. Do you know what position you are on the waiting list? As far as I'm aware, everyone who has been successful has been put onto a waiting list whilst they wait for start dates to come through. I just feel disappointed because there was no mention of a waiting list on the job advert - was there? Did I miss it? Anyone who does get a successful waiting list letter, I would advise you to put off telling your family and friends until you get a start date! It's a bit embarrassing as I told my family that I have got a job and they keep asking me when I start :(

Hello, yeah it would seem like we may have the same officer. I feel like the info given at the recruitment interviews where they said that over 100 staff were required and verbally by a different HR officer (when the other guy wasn't in the office!) was entirely positive, and being on the waiting list in this particular role, meant that a position would be coming my way shortly. I know I'm within the 105 that they said were being taken on, and nope, there was definitely no mention of waiting lists when they advertised, I have just checked the original ad too!! I also told family and friends the 'good news' on the feedback I got from HR originally, and that I was just having to wait for the standard checks. I really don't know if our HR officer simply has limited knowledge of the processes or an apparent lack of interest. All I can do is keep looking for other jobs, I don't hold much faith in this recruitment procedure given the different messages being given out.
  • Phew! What a thread..... 49 pages and more than 45000 views  I think I've read most of the posts but may have missed a couple. Is there anyone in the same boat as me? I had the tests and interview at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland on the 20th of last month and got a 'Congratulations, welcome to the waiting list' letter on the 29th. There doesn't seem to be a definitive answer here, as different regions appear to have different recruitment policies. I seem to remember the guy doing the interview mentioned a waiting list, but they would be using people from that list straight away. It's early days yet and I don't plan to hold my breath! I just wondered if anyone was in the same position in the same region. I haven't tried calling the Newcastle number for more info yet, as I'm guessing they're probably snowed under with calls from people reading this thread! Thanks in advance for any clues to the mysterious workings of the DWP.......
