I received a fixed term offer today as EO for 16mths, i'm hoping that if i work well and prove myself i'll be kept on, i realise that once the jobs market picks up a lot of DWP jobs will be shed, but i'll just try my best and hope.
I live near Grimsby, is there anyone out there in my area who is also on 16mths contract?
Hiya, congratulations on getting a job offer! Im on the waiting list for the same area for an EO position, but for 18 months! What position have you got...also if you dont mind me asking, when did you have your assessment centre day? was it in April?
Alot of questions i know, but i havent come across anyone from the same area we are! so it would just be handy to know your experience/timescales with the dwp! Was you on a waiting list?0 -
I was at the same interviews as you. 25th April, central district. All I've had is a success letter. But as you said, we filled out the CRBs then and there and I haven't had a copy sent to me. I know the CRBs typically take about 20 days (I assume 20 working days) to complete so I'm not expecting to hear for another week or so.
I didn't get given a choice of locations either but as I live very central, that might be why. I could get to any of them (except Highgate) quite easily.
Was it for the AO position?0 -
Sorry you 2 didn't get through - although I'm probably just prolonging the agony.
I'm finding it difficult to think of better examples for my competencies and the presentation (without any projector etc) is just more stress. Suppose I should be happy I've got an interview.
well don't do what i did, gabble really quickly then apologise. This is why I am sure i didn't get through.they asked me how i could have done it better and i had to tell them it was completely wrong, and i felt a bit sheepish.:o0 -
Grace I guess it can only be a good sign if they are contacting your personal references!
Lili and Grace did you ask them how many positions were available?
Only once I had, had my interview did I think * I should have asked that*0 -
You're spot on! - here i am, waiting for my CRB to come back from disclosure scotland having sent it off to DWP on 8th April and I emailed Disclosure Scotland today and they dont have my record and havent received it! What a complete joke! This is really getting me worked up now! I will be calling them very soon and sure to get my message across!
Argggggh
Disclosure Scotland are really quick once they get it. I sent my disclosure form back to Newcastle on Monday (11th) and it was there waiting on my mat this morning (16th). Maybe you should try phoning them? They had no record of me either when I emailed. It was only when I got the job offer and Newcastle said they had sent my disclosure form I thought there must be a problem. When I phoned they were really helpful and it turned out my form had been returned to Newcastle on the 17th April with an error.0 -

Thanks for your congrats. I've been offered personal advisor. My interview was at Hull at the begining of March, i received a letter about a week later telling me i'd been successful and that i was on a waiting list for to to 6mths. After 1 mth i rang Newcastle to ask where i was on the list, then i rang again after 2 mths, i was told all my checks had been processed and i would be getting a phone call in the next week or so. I actually got my call the next morning, i was offered a 16mth contract instead of the permanant position i originally applied for, they said all permanant posts had been filled by people on the list before me who had scored higher in their interviews, i was'nt happy about this but i feel lucky to have this in the current climate, and if i work well who knows i may be kept on. I hope this helps you, good luck.0 -

lili you didnt get the HEO?? Lol me too - got thin envelope
Oh quelle domage. TBH, I am not surprised, nor am I unhappy. I'd rather go in as an EO. I just can not be arsed to go through any more hoops and hurldes with these people and I doubt I could droid myself throught the next stages of HEO anyway, so I'm glad I don't have to think about it.:idea:0 -
