DWP employment waiting list

I think you need to look at in a different light.
Lets say there are 10 positons up for grabs, we apply, we go for interviews they fill the positions. Now instead of rejecting the other eligible applicants they keep there details on file, if vacancies become available they will contact you to offer you a position, this happens all the time in all kinds of business but not in the same fashion.
How many times have you applied for a job, been for an interview and recieved a letter saying you was unsuccessful in getting the post, however they will keep your details on file for any future vacancies, exactly the same, a waiting list position isnt a guaranteed position and you dont necessarily have a future with the DWP0 -

I applied for an A/O position in London (central district) and passed the lit/num tests and had my interview on April 25th. One week later I received the you have been successful letter with no mention of a waiting list. This week I have found out the DWP have contacted my referees for references, in previous posts it's been mentioned they only contact referees once your CRB is back or they don't contact your referees but HMRC instead.
I have yet to hear anything from DWP, do you think this means they have received my CRB in Newcastle or have they decided to complete all the other checks while they wait for your CRB to be returned to speed the process up?
I'm similar to you in that I went for the same interview on the same date, but I know none of my referees have been contacted yet. I suppose that means my CRB isn't back.:idea:0 -

If so do you have any advice on the presentation that you have to give at the beginning of the interview.
Charlotte, may I ask how long ago you did the online 'siftability' test for HEO positions?:idea:0 -

I think we may have been at the same interview!! I have also been successful for an EO post based in the South of Tyne and Wear. samesamebutdifferent - how did you find out that you will be getting a start date for the end of the month? I was first told that I am 2nd on the list and a week later I was told I'm 25th, so I'm not sure what's the deal with that! What position were you? I've just been applying for other jobs, as much as I'd like this job, if I was offered another job with a guaranteed start date I'd take that. I have received my CRB back, DWP have received a copy too so it's just a waiting game as they await start dates! My recruitment officer couldn't tell me anything else like how long it may be etc.
Hi there, I'm afraid I didn't find out what number I was on the list, I didn't ask !! I got a phone call direct from the Jobcentre branch, asking if I still wanted the role, and checking if I was ok to start at the end of the month. I hope that you get some news soon, but I definitely think that applying for other roles is the best advice anyone can give you, as my assumption is that recruitment could take some time, probably more than most of us might expect, and at the end of the day it is just a waiting list, their recruitment numbers and timeframes could change etc etc, and when the phone call does come, then that is fantastic, you can make your choice then if you really want the role, DWP I am sure will accommodate standard notice periods. Good luck0 -
Hi all,
Im new to this and decided to join in after reading the forum. I've found everything very interesting and think its a fantastic idea. I thought i was the only one, but i now know its affecting everyone. Good luck to those who have their start dates and to those who are still waiting, like me
Anyone else applied within the Black Country area? Curious to see if anyone is waiting too. I applied back in early Feb for this, passed tests and interview. Got my success letter over 8 weeks ago, but said nothing of a waiting list...but still waiting.0 -

Hi there!
As your offer letter didn't mention a waiting list then from my my experience its safe to assume you were a high scorer on the tests. Newcastle advised me they were looking to concentrate on these first and place as quickly as possible! Saying that of course I had my offer letter back in March and start at my pref location on Monday. A friend of mine took 12 weeks from start to finish. Do you know if they have your CRB certificate as i have been advised they do not commence the ref checks without it?0 -

I completed the online test on 11/4/09. I receviced a letter yesterday inviting me to an interview on the 21st of this month.
For the 1st part of the interview i have to prepare a 10 minute presentation on 'What are your key strengths as a leader?'0 -

I applied for the west midlands (tests at wolves football ground back in march - I think!) and had a call last week offering me a choice of 2 locations. I was surprised as I had found out I was 84 on the list. Which were your preferred locations?0 -

Ah. I took that one too. I haven't had a letter. That might mean I haven't passed it, which doesn't surprise me at all.:D
Hmmm...10 minutes on 'your strengths as a leader'...??? Tough one. You could make the interviewing panel wear blindolds and lead them through a 10 minute trust game involving tightrope walking and crocodiles.
Just an idea..:idea:0 -

Hi there.
Yeah i did phone them up to check about my CRB they did loose it. I emailed a copy over, and when i called again a week later i was told that all my checks were done and my details had been passed on and to expect a call (this was a week ago)..
I recommend to anyone that hasn't heard anything to double check that Newcastle have got your CRB...they seem to be loosing a lot of them.0
