I applied to Central district? How about you?
Didnt they just send your CRB to Newcastle? We were given an address to put down to which the disclosure would be sent.
I think all you can do is wait right. Did they give you a choice of which job centre you'd prefer to work in?
I was at the same interviews as you. 25th April, central district. All I've had is a success letter. But as you said, we filled out the CRBs then and there and I haven't had a copy sent to me. I know the CRBs typically take about 20 days (I assume 20 working days) to complete so I'm not expecting to hear for another week or so.
I didn't get given a choice of locations either but as I live very central, that might be why. I could get to any of them (except Highgate) quite easily.:idea:0 -
Anyone else had a call from Manpower?
They rang me this afternoon...it was an 0191 number so I jumped to answer the phone thinking 'at last! A job!'. No, it was Manpower. They've been employed by DWP to survey the waiting lists. She took me through a number of questions; the IRC numbers, the stage of application etc. The info is apparently going to be fed back through to DWP to 'speed things up'.:idea:0 -
Manpower phoned???
What did they ask you? I wonder if they are trying to keep everyone on the waiting list updated.0 -

Yes. See my above post for what they asked. The Manpower lady made a report of what applications I'd submitted and what stage I was at with them. She was very nice but didn't really seem to know why she was doing it, so I couldn't find out much about exactly what it would be used for. She said 'to hurry things along', but she didn't know exactly how. She said the report would be submitted to the job manager. I assume she means HR officer at Newcastle, as what would be the point of sending it to vacancy managers at the individual JCPs? I don't know what it will add, as my HR officer is well aware of the stages of my application. She just doesn't have the resources to keep up with the volume of work.:idea:0 -
I got offered a start date before my disclosure came back. Just got asked if I had it yet. When I said 'no' they said they would give me another start date this month as nobody could start on the 11th. Unfortunately the disclosure could not be processed due to the form being signed by a non registered DWP worker. So I had to get another form. Well I filled it in and sent it off Monday to staffing. I did not think it would even be out of Newcastle yet. I put in the form's barcode number today to see if Disclosure had received it and it is being processed already! Newcastle were really quick to get it out. So fingers crossed I get it back and can actually start this month :rolleyes:0

Had an interview on 1st April for role of EO within the North East, passed tests and now been put on waiting list. Following success letter I called Newcastle and according to a staff member within HR, all those candidates that were successful (over 100) at interview stage were being posted at some point. Had anyone else heard that?
I had left it for about 4 weeks but called yesterday to chase... since been told that the way it works is that you will get a call from a jcp when they have a vacant position but it may now now be the case of all people being posted.mmm
Just wondering if there is anyone out there who is waiting in the North East, or in fact anyone who knows any tips on the procedure.
Thanks0 -
I also had an interview early April for EO role in South Tyne & Wear area, received letter to state I was successful at interview but on a 12 month waiting list with no guarantees. I rang the HR team in April in Newcastle who advised on a couple of occasions that 105 people who had received the 'success at interview' letter would definitely be posted as they had over 100 posts to fill for this particular vacancy, which was very positive news. They advised it was simply a case of waiting for the checks (CRB, medical) and then admin etc etc, where each Jobcentre would confirm numbers of candidates and dates for starting etc, and then they would be in touch, but they were hoping for start dates fairly quickly and stated it wouldn't be a case of months and months. Since then I have had the good news that I will be posted at the end of the month, although it would appear that it is not mass recruitment, more as & when. One thing I would add is that the HR team in Newcastle seem to be overwhelmed with their workload, as even now, I have not yet received any paperwork to confirm the posting.0

And I don't think Newcastle or where ever you have applied to would be getting a lot more calls without this thread, as normally you don't chase an employer in this way about a job imho! You might chase things up if something hasn't happened by the date you were told, but otherwise you'd probably sit and worry or just get on with your life and wait imho.
I'm certainly not saying this thread isn't a good idea - it is fab - and letting off steam is fine, but this thread is clearly making some people even more worried about their application having read what other people are saying. I think the DWP people popping in is useful, but to a certain extent they can only say what is happening in their district and even that may have changed since some candidates originally applied as some districts have revamped and fine tuned the whole process.
Who ever said don't put all your eggs in the DWP basket is right. If it were me I'd be continuing to apply for jobs and when the time comes make a decision about any DWP offer.
I am on a 12 month waiting list for an Executive Officer position with Jobcentre Plus. I applied for this position via an advertisement in the local newspaper. There was no mention of a waiting list just an 18 month temporary contract. Bearing in mind the role I applied for is in an environment that is encouraging and assisting people back in to the workplace and improving customer service, I find this whole situation a contradiction in terms.
I understand internal departments are under pressure due to the workloads but the DWP should not embark on a mass recruitment drive if they do not have the resources to manage it.0 -
