We must be coming to the flip side of this thread now...

Namely is anyone getting their contracts extended?

FTA's at my branch are supposed to find out if their contracts will be extended by the end of this month.
No FTA's will be made permanent but some FTA contracts may be extended by 3 months.

I applied for IRC65561 back in Feb this year - following interview in mid march - I received a letter dated 31/03 saying I had been successful and had been placed on a waiting list. After reading comments on here I decided to phone on thursday to see what position I was on the list and was told my paperwork had been passed through for pre appointment checks to be completed. I though this meant that I would be offered a position within the next couple of months but after reading comments on here now I'm not so sure. I did receive an Email yesterday from the team who are carrying out the checks to ask for P60s etc but do they do these checks as routine or am I likely to be offered a job? Very confusing.

Have you rang them up to ask? I was assuming that all vacancies had been filled but if more vacancies came up or ppl failed the checks then ppl on waiting list would be considered....do you know what position you were?

My situation so far is that bradford and manchester have done checks and nonw i have to wait and see if the business centres get back to me...man this is hard work !!!!

    Hey players1987

How did your other half get on with the job interview. I just thought I'd update you as I rang Newcastle again 6th May and they told me there were 39 people lined up for this role. Did she manage to get on the list at all?

It doesn't look good, as the new ConDem administration will be looking to shed workers rather than hire or replace to save money. It has been rather a soul destroying experience to have the hopes raised only for the rug to be pulled from under the feet. We all deserve a little luck.

In our part of the CS anyone who didn't get a confirmed offer by monday of this week will not be getting an offer full stop, i understood that to be the case across the CS. i recommend you get in touch with the vacancy manager but it doesn't look good.
current debt as at 10/01/11- £1250

The DWP has suspended all recruitment for the foreseeable future, some fixed term contracts will be renewed and some will not, staff members who leave (both fixed term or permanent) will not be replaced.

all applicants waiting for an offer or thinking about applying within CS (mainly DWP) the official stance is there will be a recruitment freeze until march 2011 all FTA contracts will not be renewed certain offices may get to keep 1/2 FTA by an extension but the chief sec will have to approve them so this is highly unlikely

the DWP sheds 3500 staff per annum which is the norm we have been told by management that they will not be replaced

also the DWP recruits 2000 staff per annum, that is also going to stop

any staff that DWP loose for what ever reason will not be replaced

the situation is so bad that senior management have asked for volunteers to work in diff districts e.g i work in Birmiungham and solihull but have been asked to work in staffordshire one month and then the Marches district the next month

That really is a kick in the teeth....was told in march they can't start my training until June and now this. Surely if they need staff then they need them. I stopped applying for other jobs cus they were processing pre-recruitment checks for 2 other vacancies.

Yeah, just got a letter from the DWP saying that the vacancy I applied for is on hold until further notice.
