mbcomper - Congrats on also being successful.

I have been given a start date of 17th May (next Monday), although not yet got the details of where I need to go on my first day, etc.

Was told several weeks ago by email that all my checks had been done and that I was on the merit list (not sure what number, sorry). Then a lady called last Thursday and gave me a start date.

What number on the merit list are you?

    Wooohooooooooooo! :j

Thank you! - Congratulations to you too.

I got the call today 11th May, well 3 x calls actually lol. :j

I start at the DBC in Edgbaston, Birmingham 17th May 2010, plus I have it in writing that this is a 'PERMANENT' Role not Fixed Term as discussed previously on the forum. My position on the Merit List was 19/39. They advised me that they are taking on 25 people and are currently in the process of contacting all 39, It sounded very stressful at Newcastle, I have just received my letter via e-mail as the post has already left for the day.

I originally applied for an EO Fixed Term role @ Birmingham with the JC+ September 2009 and was put on a waiting list. According to Manpower I was deemed to be only 96/128 on the merit list and have sat on a waiting list ever since, which is due to expire June 2010.

Amy, I have sent you a PM to say where I have been told to report to and what time, albeit I cannot guarantee that this will apply to you. I would suggest if you do not receive anything in the mail tomorrow, to contact Newcastle and ask them to e-mail you confirmation, just to make sure.

I have been unemployed since being made redundant July 2009, so I am very pleased to be getting back to work. I would also like to take the opportunity to say a BIG thank you to all the members on this forum who offered me their advice and support during the last 9 months - It is greatly appreciated!

Now that we have a new government in (hopefully, deal permitting), does anybody know if the DWP recruitment freeze will be lifted?

I have waited so long for some good news on this.

Not a chance I'm afraid, the general move on staffing will continue downwards although there maybe small pockets of temporary recruitment where they have major staffing issues and other staff cannot be moved into an area.

Now the conservatives have formed a coalition with Lib Dems this is an even more likely scenario.

You reckon the new coalition government won't increase DWP staff??

But what about Labour? Don't you remember? They didn't exactly boost the staffing levels, did they? Furthermore, they presided over this accursed freeze!

I have applied about 5 different positions within DWP. After about 3 months of checks i was informed that my starting date will be 9th June, this i was told in april but not heard anything as of yet. oh this was for a vacancy in Leeds DBC.

Since then I have applied and passed interviews for IRC 65684 (salford quays) and IRC 66067 (bradford). Both on waiting list.....They told me for Salford Quays that they are shifting through the vacancies and for Bradford they said they have not decided how many vacancies are going?

Anyone else in same boat for above

hi everyone , I'm new on the forum.
I did an online test yesterday for an EO job in Cardiff DWP
I got an email today saying I was unsuccessful for interview this time, as they had raised the pass mark due to v high volumes.
But they said they had put me on a waiting list for 6 months and they say
"we would hope to be able to progress you to interview during this time"
does anyone out there think this is a realistic possibility? my initial reaction was
this is just a standard rejection, but maybe not so? anyone had similair experience?
    thanks,
    J.

Considering you could be waiting months and months without hearing anything after you have passed the interview stage I would not hold much hope, but I wish you luck anyway

Opinion is divided over whether or not they extend any current FTA contracts

I got a success letter for IRC65561 end of march on waiting list. I was told that I was 4th on list but I think that was after all vacancies had been dished out. Did you ring them?
