Did anyone save the advertisement for IRC 60227 in London. Was it advertised for 12 months or 18 months. A friend of mine who was succesful for this IRC needs to know as HR are saying to him it was for 12 months where as he is saying it was for 18 months. If you have a saved copy of the web page can you please send it to me. Thanks.

I applied for this vacancy and got a job start some time ago, around November. I might have even met your friend as he insists on this as well the fact that it was not fixed term but permanent. I have looked at the original on the DWP intranet system but it shows up as a 12-month fixed term appointment although I could've sworn it was a permanent post but apparently not (talked to HR about this several times but got nowhere).

Thanks for the reply tsimehC, I will tell him that I think it's 12 months. I am pretty sure that this was not a perm contract. IIRC, none of the vacancies in London were for perm positions during the mass recruitment drive that we had.

its always "up to 18 month" in the adverts - so they can give you whatever they like

Now that we have a new government in (hopefully, deal permitting), does anybody know if the DWP recruitment freeze will be lifted?

I have waited so long for some good news on this.

Hi I work for the DWP, the freeze is still on.
My district will not be taking on any more people, those on fixed term contracts will not be made permanent, some fixed term employees will have their contracts extended by 2-3 months.
It does not look good for those on the waiting list, or DWP employees, both fixed term and permanent.
  • I was called on Thursday and offered a start date for one of the executive officer roles in Birmingham (IRC65238). Has anyone else heard back about start dates for these positions?

Hi. Thank you for updating me on the DWP freeze. I really was very disappointed to learn that this freeze hasn't been lifted. As I said, it seems to have been in force for ages, and I just wonder how much longer it is going to last.

I got my successful letter for an AO post on Merseyside back in September, and have been waiting since then. Unfortunately, the merit list expired in March of this year, and this has necessitated my having to re-apply all over again in any future recruitment exercise. CAPITA handled that last recruitment where I was successful, although I don't know whether DWP will continue to use them, or will they handle the candidate sift themselves next time.

Whatever, it's looking very bleak at the moment. To think, one time I could get a casual AA job with DWP, but now I can't even get that!

    Hi AMY80059024,

I had my interview 17th March (mothering sunday).

If you don't mind me asking, what start date have they given you?

Do you mind me also asking what position you are on the merit list?

I too was successful in the same exercise. I rang them Thursday 6th May 2010 and asked how things were going, I was told that they were still checking my references. I explained I had received my CRB weeks ago, it was dated 18/04/10.

They were not giving much away, I don't think I helped myself by ringing at 5pm and they told me the lady who was dealing with this had gone home.

Please keep in touch and let me know what's happening.

    Thanks in advance - mbcomper

    Hey players1987

How did your other half get on with the job interview. I just thought I'd update you as I rang Newcastle again 6th May and they told me there were 39 people lined up for this role. Did she manage to get on the list at all?

mbcomper - Congrats on also being successful.

I have been given a start date of 17th May (next Monday), although not yet got the details of where I need to go on my first day, etc.

Was told several weeks ago by email that all my checks had been done and that I was on the merit list (not sure what number, sorry). Then a lady called last Thursday and gave me a start date.

What number on the merit list are you?
