Definitely happening where I am. Official line is that all external recruitments have to be strongly justified to persuade the secretary of state to sign them off.

There was a meeting at my office last week and all the FTAs were told that none of their contracts are going to be extended or made permanent.
Which is going to leave the rest of us in trouble because at least 25% of the office are FTA.

Same here except this was done in the form of letters rather than a meeting. Don't really care tbh.

Has anyone in Yorkshire Area heard about FTA contracts and whether they are definitely being finished at the end of the Contract? Can't get an answer from anyone at work, and my Contract ends in November:(

I work at barnsley jcp we have had no answers either, keep asking daily, plus there are a couple of guys there who signed 18 month contracts who are due to end feb 2011 who have been told they may be finished in november, but have had no notice of this from HR. Its pretty bleak really but its made worse by no one actually telling us anything definite.

It is extremely unlikely anybody will have their contract ended early due to the fact they would have to pay the contract out anyway.
