Edit: and re: Labour - I can think of no more rewarding job, and one day, I just might join them.
btw - 'going in with the boot' is complete nonsense, a prime example of people with limited vocabularies and language competency choosing 'best fit' phrases which actually have no relevent meaning given the context what so ever - while we are on the subject of advocating jobs for each other - have you considered writing for the Sun? I'm sure you would fit in perfectly with their readers.
However, didn't anyone ever tell you that 'sarcasm is the lowest form of wit', I think you have mastered this to a tee. I am sitting here reading your response to my post whilst drinking a cup of coffee and pmsl at your comments.
Just admit it Aplonation, you're self opinionated, unable to assist people with you're so called knowledge of life, you show no empathy whatsoever towards others and as you have stated previously you are always right. FYI, in the real world, we all err, including you, me and everyone else. If you wish to continue with your compulsive derogatory comments to others that's up to you. However I see you for what your really are and that is an insecure BULLY!
Think in advance what effect your comments and opinions have on others prior to posting on MSE, as far as the comments you have made about me, a rubber ball comes into mind - Bounce!0 -
The implication from your post is that there will not be many jobs lost - in fact, jobs will be "dropped like confetti" as all of the contract and temporary staff are going to go by June. How many will that be? All of them - nationwide. As a guide, in the West Midlands region alone JCP have recruited an additional 1,100 temporary & contract staff over the past 8 months who are now working within JCP and have extended opening hours to deal with the increase in job seekers - all of these people, on top of the already present contract & temporary staff, will be gone by June of this year and adding to the JSA queues.
How do you know this and with what certainty can you say it will be June? What about the people that have contracts till Dec 2010 and some even later? will they get rid of them before contract is up? Will they be paid till the end of contract months??
Plz answer0 -
Just been told by a mate that Kelvin MacKenzie in the Sun today has written that 16,000 are to go in JCP just as the dole queue is lengthening, according to an email he had while Yvette Cooper was rambling on the other day. Never mind back to the job pages and keep looking.
Effectively there was 117,470 FTE staff in the 3rd quarter of 2009, they want to reduce overal headcount to 84,000.0 -

Hi Sportfan,
Yes - the contracts will end in June. I cannot comment regarding paying the contracts out as I genuinely do not know that aspect of it all - but all I do know is that the contracts themselves will end in June of this year.0 -
Hi, How do you know this. I have a contract until March 2011. Nobody knows what is going to happen.0

No one really knows what will happen and it depends on a number of factors.
Generally speaking its a safe bet that most FTA staff won't get renewed and almost a certainty that they wont get made permanent.
Casuals will go, my office is already loosing several.
Atm they over recruited EO's in most areas and not enough AO's, quite a few EO FTA's were already AO's so they will go back to that grade when contract ends meaning some FTA AO's will be surplus to requirements even without a fall in unemployment.0 -

If the IRC you are waiting on is for a permanent role, take any job offers that come, you can always leave if the DWP role is offered to you.
If the IRC is a temp or contract role, I owuldnt pass up a job offer on the offchance.. even if you got the DWP role there is plenty of evidence to suggest folk do not get the 18 months originally suggested.. and some have been told as little as 3 months..
Your position in the list is determined by your performance at interview - you'll be scored on your answers. The better the answers, the higher up the list you'll be. There may also be people in the list who are internal staff requesting transfers to new locations, new jobs, or from different government departments. These get preference over new recruits - especially if they are currently deemed as 'surplus' staff on permanent contracts in other civil service roles. They'll offer jobs to people in their order on the list at offices which have the greatest need first. If you say no, you would normally get two more chances (but don't count on that as external, these days) before being bumped from the list but remember that jobs in JCPs are few and far between at the moment. Saying no may mean no further offers.0 -
Hi all just joining after several months away. employed on FTA. There appears to be lots of meetings going on with respect to manpower, but have not been told anything specific. We have been informed that our contracts will not be extended, some people are due to leave in the summer and some more later in the year. have to wait and see. will keep informed. i really wouldn't have thought that they will take any more on. there are some permanent jobs as decision makers in Birmingham, we have all been told to apply. keep your chin up all who are waiting0
