    Yvette Cooper should be addressed:

Rt Hon Yvette Cooper MP not dear Mrs

What address did you send it to? By the way perhaps she has more pressing matters to attend to as Secretary of State for Work and Pensions than the puerile ramblings of someone with nothing better to do with their time than complain because they are unemployed. Perhaps when you are a taxpayer again you can start complaining about how our money is being spent?

Your tone is very disrespectful if someone wrote to me with that tone the letter would go straight into the waste paper bin.

Also.. you have complained about 'the total lack of disregard' that actually means 'the total regard'... ;)

EDIT: I should say that I am not trying to belittle your case, or your frustration - i'm just pretty vexated by the way people are !!!!!ing at the Government as if this is their fault. We were in the biggest financial crisis of our time. The Government were reacting as best they could to ensure the public services were up to the job. No person here was actually told 'you have been successful and will be starting on XXX date' and then had this taken away. They were told they had passed the interview and would be contacted once checks had been completed, this is very different. How long do you think it takes our Secretary of State for Work and Pensions to consider the response to these letters, how many combined hours are wasted on this? What do you want her to do, apologise? Why? Would you rather they employed everyone on the lists so even more jobs could be culled after the next election? Or would you rather they continued with the recruitment process despite having realised they no longer need the staff? They are human beings not beings blessed with paranormal crystal balls. Good luck with your job hunting those that haven't got through, I really think it's time to be moving on...

  • Hi

Just been reading through the posts still not at the end but I thought i'd post anyway - I've applied for a job in Birmingham and was just wondering about the online test - Is this test sent to everyone who has sent in an application form?

    Thanks

    @Apolonation
" Perhaps when you are a taxpayer again you can start complaining about how our money is being spent?"

Everyone is a taxpayer due to indirect taxes like fuel duty and VAT, for your contention to hold water, income tax would have to be the only tax levied, JSA is a taxable benefit also, so technically if not in reality, PAYE could be deducted from it. Get off your high horse, you are becoming as annoying as that well known troll of the employment threads. Not everyone has knowledge of the correct way to address the moat dredging, expenses guzzling troughers correctly. Must be due to their constant dumbing down of the education system. Some on here are just p*****d by the inept way they think the whole process has been handled. I am unsurprised by the debacle, problem is the inept troughers, past present and future have been complicit in the wholesale export of jobs out of the UK imho, so there are less jobs available for this threads contributors to chase. My personal take is if jobs are offered great, if not keep looking. No one should rely on a job offer from anywhere, until they are going in for their first day.

    Hi Mum2four,

I too have applied for IRC 65238 Executive Officer Birmingham and have been asked to complete an online test.

I am currently on the dreaded waiting list for IRC 62504 EO Birmingham, I had the same non descript e-mail it sounds like everyone else received in January saying I'm on the waiting list until March 2010. Albeit I was originally told I was on a waiting list for 12 months?????

Based on the above, I have been reading the posts on MSE ref DWP yet haven't posted anything as I have been to depressed to do so with all the negative response you have all received from the DWP. I did however ring their resourcing dept to complain when I got the letter, just another waste of my time.

I would just like to know what the online test consists of if anyone could oblige and also do I have to complete it if I already have a document that says I passed the tests for EO grade.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I need to complete this weekend.

    Thanks in advance - mbcomper

i will keep this short cos it seems im in the same boat as everyone else and have the same story

back in sept 09 applied for EO role.....irc62408....did the tests and interview....october got the 'on the list' letter

every month since then i have phoned them (and got through!) for progress report.....went from #41 to #8 in january......although the 30 in front of me was waiting on crb checks!

today i havnt been able to get thro to them on the number on the letter so decided to google for an alternative....found this thread..........kinda depressing to realise theres thousands in the same boat...thought i would join up and let everyone know how ive just got on with them

anyway........i worked my way thro some of the other numbers that got posted a page or two back...........on the 01912166596 number it got answered on the second ring!!......nearly fell off my chair with the shock :rotfl:

after a (very) quick chat with the woman, who didnt even want to check my name against the list told me that within the next 7 to 10 days everyone 'on the list' will get a letter in the post..........i asked if this was going to be a 'thanks but no thanks letter'?...........she said 'not necessarily......as theres 7 different kind of letters being sent out'..........so make of that what you will

im not holding my breath...............to be honest im kinda p****d off about it all........back when i applied it was for a job.....not a spot on a waiting list..feels like they have kept me dangling all these months with false promises......i even signed on this morning and my advisor asked me how it was progressing since they were overworked and understaffed

btw....heres another number for the list......01912166209...back in december it belonged to someone called Daniel Tolan

    best of luck, everyone
    Hi,

I read your post with interest, we'll have to wait and see ........

With reference to telephone numbers, when I called the DWP Resourcing Dept in Newcastle in January, after ringing numerous telephone numbers myself to no avail, I was told by one of their staff that each individual has to log in with their telephone number each day and that because so many staff had now left, due to the recent cuts, this is why the phone numbers would just ring out. She also advised me to put my complaint in writing to the customer services team as most of them were just clerical doing CRB checks and references etc and did not have the authority to assist with my enquiry.

I hope the above is of some help to you all!

This is the first time I have applied for a job with dwp so I wasnt sure of the procedure, I havent had a chance to look at the test yet, there is an email address at the bottom of the invitation email why dont you ask that person if you have to do it?

Can I ask you what the interviews were like?

    Thanks
  • I went back onto the dwp site - Is the EO really a junior managerial job?

It's a supervisory role, you will have a team of Adminstration Officers to supervise.

    Hi again mum2four

I've just sent them an e-mail, so I'll wait and see, not holding up much hope with everything else that I have read and have knowledge of so far.

I just like to be prepared and ensure I know what I am doing before starting the test.
  • Thanks for the quick reply,

Even if i get to interview I'll have to give it a miss, I must have misread as I didnt realise that it was to be a team leader!
