DWP employment waiting list

Hi MargieL,

I too have been waiting since 1st September for the same IRC. Have now accepted wont be getting a job there and have been applying elsewhere...no luck yet. Good Luck with your new job, hope you really enjoy it! The DWP didnt deserve us...lol Please let us know the response you get from Mark Francois,...as I think he is a pretty decent MP....hmmm did i just say that...lol... Good Luck!

I have just been offerred a post for IRC60375 (I originally applied last July and was joint 65th on the merit list as of 22 January). The post lasts around 10 months.
Their HR rep who called me told me that while there is a recruitment freeze, that they have "special dispensation to recruit for hot spots". I also asked about posts that are being terminated; she replied that these were posts that are being held by temps and casuals, and it doesn't apply to civil servants, either on short or permanent contracts.
Hope this information helps. As unemployment isn't going down any time soon, I think there's going to be quite a bit more "special dispensatory" recruitment happening...

That's such a crap reply - why would Theresa May get your vote for saying she would simply "keep your comments in mind" - that means !!!!!! all! She could raise a question in the House, she could kick up a stink about it - instead she will do NOTHING until after the election upon which she won't give a crap about you, me or any of our predicaments.

Since when were the Tories the party of the unemployed? They'll contract it ALL out to private firms to keep DWP costs down anyway meaning less jobs.

Are you not on here to complain that the labour govt are not the party of the unemployed,, given they are in charge of the civil service and this fiasco is about goventment jobs.. after 13 years in power they can hardly find an excuse of not getting round to it yet?

As for contracting out, as a tax payer I would rather see the job done effectively and efficiently with costs well managed than see a falsely bloated economy with 20,000 people not jobless becasue they are on a payroll rather than doing a job of work..

There are some very good well trained and helpful folk at DWP, but sadly they are in a minority in my own personal exp.

were there are thousands of people awaiting placement, why were vacancies still being advertised when recruitment as stated had ceased, IRC 61505 Essex was advertised in July 2009, 100 plus successful candidates put on waiting list and then IRC 64225 Essex vacancies was further advertised in November, NOT ONE person has been placed from either of these two IRC’s what a complete waste of time & money, people on the forum above have turned down other positions unaware of the DWP fiasco.

The position is now that people who received successful letters from
June 2009 – December 2009, no communication has been received by any candidate by way of an update, until an email from Employee Shared Services on 28/01/2010

Every person that has been successful has received this standard letter, basically there are no positions.

This fruitless & extortionate waste of tax payers’ money along with advertising positions which did not exist, the total lack of disregard to applicants, the outrageous, ineptitude of the DWP to be able to forecast staff levels and to recruit accordingly I find absolutely astounding.

DWP the institution for getting people back to work, GOD HELP US!!
