But the EO post that I applied for (4 months ago) was a single vacancy
So - unless 25 people contract SWINE FLU and PEG IT
What chance do I have ?0 -

What happens is that they do not just take in one person but tend to take them in batches of about 10. You will also find that many people are on more than one merit list. I for example am on eight. Therefore if they are offered another position they will then turn down a later offer unless it is more convenient for them or is a more senior role. The IRCs also tend to be for areas which cover more than one jobcentre and you are only considered for those JCs that you have indicated. Hope this helps.0 -

As whiskyman said, just because you are 26th doesnt mean you wont get an offer.. the process is long and drawn out as reading parts of this thread will show.. many folk get jobs elsewhere, or the offer they get is not convenient, or the job is a fixed contract rather than permanent and so on..
Some roles are for specific jobs in a particular office, but many are for a type of job in a region.. One IRC was posted as "Executive Officer in Burnley" but the IRC number related to Executive Officer roles across the whole NW region from Manchester to Cumbria.. so you may find that you are only second or third on the list for a specific office..0 -

I've being waiting for IRC 62486 in Caerphilly since September. Anyone who's also waiting for a call for this IRC?

Was in JCP again today - signing day.. and the person I saw had a "trainee" with her.. the trainee was an AO grade, interview was June 2009, she got the call 18th December to start on 21 December! - she said her "basic training" is hopefully in 2 weeks time.. in the meantime she gets dumped on different members of staff each day..
The person asked me about my EO application, and said ""they are still taking folk on, but the DWP doesnt have a dictionary so cant look up efficiency or Administration to find out what the big words mean..""

How can you be on eight merit lists ?
Have you applied for eight seperate DWP vacancies or am I missing something ?
My local JCP will probably only have a handful of EO's in total anyway0 -

I have applied for eight different IRCs. I have been successful in all of them. They are for different grades and different regions. One is also for a position in a pension centre and I have another interview for EO at a disability centre. Some posts would involve a round trip of 70 miles. I am not just going for ones at my local JCP.0 -
Hi all
Just a question to all of you who have had an interview in the last two months for one of the IRCs for an area. Have any of you received a success letter that does not mention a waiting list?
I have been a bit of a serial applicant and have attended a number of interviews in the last two months even though I was already on merit lists. I have been successful in all but have received letters stating that I am on a waiting list. The only one that was different was for a position with the Pensions Service, where they wanted people to start in January, which stated that I was successful and they were conducting checks.
I ask this question because of the changes within the DWP that have been posted on here and just wonder if they now have their complement but were committed to the exercises.

No mention of a waiting list in my "success letter" Whisky - but have since been told that I am "11th on the list" - so whether anyone's letter mentions waiting list or not seems totally irrelevant
My first success letter way back at the end of August did not mention a waiting list. I am still waiting for a posting from this. Most other letters do state waiting list except for one that was not a JCP position. I have been interviewed for regions where I am already on a waiting list.
One position that did not mention a waiting list that I have been waiting for since early September, I received an email from the business centre just before Christmas asking which JCs I would like to be posted to. Still waiting.0 -
SO annoyed with this whole process, and ive actually been patient, because i knew what to expect from reading everyone elses posts.
Ive been waiting since november from when i got the success letter and checks cleared to get a call while other people on here have been placed.
I phoned today after waiting a month and was told all i can do is wait and that's all the guy was willing to tell me as he said it was now down to the JCP, but was not liable to give me a number to find out more info?? its RIDICULOUS.0
