DWP employment waiting list

Hi All,
I have just found this thread and by the sounds of it I am going to be waiting on this job for a while. I have been told that i have been successful in 3 AO position, which all interviewed around the beggining of December (IRC63603, IRC64249 and I can't remember the last one, might be IRC64178 or IRC63744). They are all south based.
I have been trying to contact the numbers that Manpower so graciously provided but am so far having little success. 01912166985 is permenantly engaged and 01912166956 and 01912166962 just keep on ringing until what i presume is a disconnected tone comes in. All I am looking to do is to change some of my details and the details of my references, to ease the process. It's not much to ask.
If anyone has any new phone numbers for Employee Resourcing then I would be extremely greatful or any info on the above posts.
Thanks0 -

Question -
Could you please tell me just how many (local to me) vacancies DWP has that I am allowed to apply for (I have passed the interviews and have been CRB cleared) - plus (more importantly) - how many candidates you have in line for these vacancies ?
Answer -
All of our current vacancies are advertised on our website www.dwp.gov.uk
You can apply for any vacancy you wish by filling in the on line application and emailing it in following the instructions supplied.
I give up0 -
Thanks for the suggestions I eventually managed to get through. Apparently all my checks have cleared, so no need for the new references and the lady said that the next stage is to be contacted by the business partners by which I presume she means the job centres themselves. Apparently very few have passed the checks so far and they may be waiting for more, before contacting us. So I guess I now just wait !0

Hi jamie - doesn't even sound like we r going to get the promised January communication now - i.e. should they be able to offer a position, they will be in touch I think means forget it!!!
Would much prefer it if they would just be HONEST and tell us yes or no - this waffle just makes it worse. I am expecting not to hear anything now, but am so reluctant to just give up on this............
In utter frustration today I sent a really strong email to Emp Res. explaining that I was fed up with their total ineffficiency and unprofessionalism. Got an immediate response back:
Thank you for your email dated 11th January 2010.
I am very sorry that you are disappointed with the level of service you have experienced during the recruitment process. As explained in our response of 8th December 2009, whilst Employee Services Resourcing administers selection activity on behalf of Jobcentre Plus, any offer of employment is made by the local business area and will be dependant upon individual business needs. Unfortunately at this time I can only advise that Jobcentre Plus have assured us that they will be contacting all candidates who remain on merit lists in January 2010 to advise what action they are taking.
I should explain that it was initially anticipated that Jobcentre Plus would be in a position to offer posts to all candidates successfully completing pre recruitment checks for these selection exercises. However the advertised Recruitment opportunities within Jobcentre plus have generated extraordinary levels of interest and applications. Whilst recruitment activity has not ceased, the significant number of successful applications for these posts, as well as the size and complexity of locations and positions available, has necessitated a full review of Jobcentre Plus's staffing position and has resulted in delays in contacting candidates to offer start dates.
I appreciate that this is a difficult situation and would like to thank you for your patience. Once again I regret that I am unable to provide more specific timescales and can only reiterate that Jobcentre Plus will be in contact later in the month.

Sorry but you are incorrect when you assume that very few have been CRB cleared - most people will have no problems at all with the basic check - several hundred people are in the same boat as you - I have been waiting since September also
DWP have made a BIG boo boo and are trying to cover up their mistake.....

Sorry 21Twinkle I didn't mean us as in us on the forums but rather apparently according to the lady i spoke to only a couple of people have been cleared so far for my specific IRC numbers (apparently only 3 people for one of them). Also it wasn't just CRB but references, credit history and the rest of it. Although i'm not sure if they really bother with references.0 -
Apparently the huge amount of waiting time is not unusual - I know someone who has worked for DWP for ten years and even then she had to wait 3 months for a start date - I do hope they let us know this month one way or the other though0

Have you emailed Louise Perry? Her email address should be on the bottom of that one.
I'm really frustrated too. We would all understand if we were kept up to date with what is going on and actually given any information at all, instead of being fobbed off all of the time.
My major annoyance (amongst many) is being told I was successful and that they are conducting checks and then just receiving a CRB form in the post with no other information given by them at all with regards to what happens next. I've had to do all the chasing but even then, any result of information has been fruitless.
I'm so glad to have found this forum and thread as I knew what to expect from DWP with their total inefficiency amongst other things. Think of all the poor people who haven't read all the experiences of other people in this forum and were gladly sitting there thinking they had a guaranteed job, as how many other places tell you that you passed the interview but then don't contact you again.
Not holding out for any information this month to be honest. How many other people have been told that DWP were in a recruiting position until Dec and if they don't hear then, they would hear in January? Just interested. Has anyone emailed Louise Perry?0
