Thanks Whiskyman, Natomar, much appreciated.
I cant believe they have done a further recruitment campain in this area just now if they dont anticipate positions coming up soon? It all seems such a mad set-up I really dont get it !
Heres hoping there is a positive turn in the New Year,I will hold out hope in January I think - after that I may give it up.
Thanks again for your help0 -

No problem! I did telephone newcastle when new vacancies were advertised (IRC 64065) and was told that the people who were waiting on the list for manchester east & west eg IRC 61153 would be appointed first, we will see0 -
Hi all
Just a question to all of you who have had an interview in the last two months for one of the IRCs for an area. Have any of you received a success letter that does not mention a waiting list?
I have been a bit of a serial applicant and have attended a number of interviews in the last two months even though I was already on merit lists. I have been successful in all but have received letters stating that I am on a waiting list. The only one that was different was for a position with the Pensions Service, where they wanted people to start in January, which stated that I was successful and they were conducting checks.
I ask this question because of the changes within the DWP that have been posted on here and just wonder if they now have their complement but were committed to the exercises.

There seems to be two types of letters one, which refers to a waiting list and one which you refer to conducting checks. I was told initially that if you received the conducting check's version, you would be offered a post fairly soon, but I no longer feel that is the case. It seems they have sent to many of these letters and do not have the posts to back the offers up.
So I wish you the best of fortune.0 -
I have had conducting checks, and have been told by my referees that they had been contacted, had CRB's back, mid November, then nothing, so am expecting a waiting list letter.
Easy cop out, put everyone successful on the list, post from it; once all jobs allocated, quietly let list expire, No need for further contact, simples. Or am I just being cynical with waiting so long?0 -
Well, I didn't get a letter for my first IRC (I forget the numbers there's so many!).. I did get a call about my referees being contacted, and was told I would get notified by letter after.. I called back 2 weeks later and was tild verbally I was "on the list sent 1- 2 weeks ago" and that they "may" have mistyped or overlooked my email address and thus not received the promised communication.
Then I got the "recruiting through December but if you havent heard, you will definitely hear in January" letter/email.
Pensions Centre role (Same as Whiskyman's) I got the congratulations you have passed, your details are on the list" letter.. My referees have not been contacted so I recon I am not getting one of the 12 offers..
I cant help but think it would be so much fairer, easier and open if they made a job offer in principle to those who pass interview, subject to refeerences and CRB checks - as the private sector does.. Then the also rans would know that they are not in any immediate likelyhood of a job offer. More to the point, DWP would not be wasting £500,000 on CRB checks for the vast majority of folk they "approve" who stand not a kippers chance! I coulod not imagine there is a less efficient or more cumbersome approach to recruitment.. from a government department that is supposed to specialise in it!0 -
Whiskyman, I am not sure they ARE going through the motions.. I think it is just hopless ineptitude from a bunch of people who couldn't do a "real" job.0

when you say going through the motions do you mean they are treating us like sh**? As the organisation that is supposed to help people back into work their own recruitment leaves much to be desired.
I notice that they are advertising posts for PR people. I wonder why. Do they expect a backlash from the fiasco?
They are also advertising for Communications people. Perhaps they have realised that this is one of their weakest areas.0 -
Hi to all
I wrote to my MP regarding this fiasco and waste of money!! he kindly wrote to the DWP on my behalf, their response was the usual there has been an overwhelming response to vacancies and if and when positions become available people will be posted! blah blah.... as my MP quoted my name I think that has certainly guaranteed me not getting the call!!!
But to everyone who is WAAITING FOR THE CALL!!!!!!
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas & A PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR!!! xx0 -
