In my opinion, the Floor Manager position is one of the easier EO roles to do. "Manager" is a slightly misleading title, as in my office (granted, not a very busy JC) the Floor manager just greets people as they come in the door, and directs them to the relevant place (signing desks, personal advisers, etc). Where I am, all the advisers provide Floor Manager cover when she's on lunch and breaks, and we all agree that it's one of the easier roles. That said, it does have it's downsides as you're on your feet all day and it could be hard work at a busy office.0 -

The customer care officers do not work for DWP, and are there as a security measure. I was speaking some CCOs recently, and they say they are told not to speak with customers, but most do as they get very bored otherwise (unless you're in a busy office, then incidents requiring the intervention of a guard/CCO are rare)0 -

While CCOs do not work for the DWP, they are required to direct customers to the relevant area of the building. Of course, they don't have access to the benefit systems so that's probably where the floor manager comes in.0 -

Stupidly in my office, the floor manager has no access to a computer, except for an hour every few days to keep up-to-date with emails, etc.0 -
It is an extremely busy office, with a reputation of having a fair few potentially violent customers (that is what worries me)... We don't have CCO's we have G4 security officers in the background, but they only intervene if someone is being attacked apparently.....
I start tomorrow so wish me luck0 -

:jGood Luck Janabiyah-Jane, hope your first day is great.
I'm still waiting on IRC 61880, I feel left out now Darnay and DellaD have had the call but I am really pleased for you bothI am debating whether I should ring again to find out if there are any developments but don't hold out much hope of finding anything out if I do, so I'll probably just sit glued to the phone that never rings.

Is "patronising" something they teach at JCP I wonder.. or does it come naturally once you get in to the job..? Just had the most awful 13 week interview session, I would put in a complaint if I thought anything would be done.
Still, he asked if there was anything he could do to help with my job seeking, so I told him he could find out about IRC62876 for me, and perhaps why so many folk are waiting and not hearing..
Strangely, his answer was "I am not allowed"???
Does DWP actually read and apply it's competencies, or does someone just enjoy playing with powerpoint??:D:D

Hi desperado2, i'm disapointed again!
I have the same interview at JCP to help with my job seeking etc next Monday and was looking forward to giving them the task of finding out what has happened to my job offer with them. It looks like i will be wasting my time again then. Its very odd isnt it? you would think instead of giving you a lecture they would pick up the phone to their line manager and just ask the question, or am i missing the point here. Everytime i sign on i ask but get either a shake of the head or they change the subject. Its all very strange.0 -

I sent an email regarding Shropshire the other day to Louise Perry to be told that they would not let me have the details of the jobcentre - which (and I don't know this) is probably fair enough.
I'm just dying to know what is going to happen and when........a little impatient I know. But it's a bit weird when you've got a job and don't know when it's starting.0
