Hi Jamie
I am in same position - got an email today to say they are recruiting until end december for this post and if we have not had a reply by then, they will contact us in january.....I am not sure if this is good or bad news.
Must admit I am getting a little despondent now. My reply was from Louise Perry too.0 -

I know - it's a bit hmph!
Personally, I just hope that (heaven-forbid) if January does come and there is still no movement, then we will perhaps then get offered other positions within JCP fairly local to where we live. I don't know, but I hope this is the case.
My email was from someone called Joe - decent chap, but I too am getting a bit despondent. Having gone through all of the exams, the interview, all those bloody forms :rotfl:to now be in danger of not getting the job is really upsetting.
Yes, we all knew the score, but having been unemployed for the past 6 months with two degrees and everyone telling me "well, you'll only !!!!!! off after 2 months when things turn around" it's very frustrating.
Still, chin up and all that.
Where is your preferred location??

Lol at you people thinking JCP advisors will find out how your irc applications are getting on.
They are not there for the use of they actually have a job to do which is your interview. You need to be a bit proactive and make your own enquiries to find out about your own job applications.... Gl though, and I hope you get that call before too long all who are waiting.whinge intr.v. whinged, whing·ing, whing·es Chiefly British To complain or protest, especially in an annoying or persistent manner.0 -
Part time hours -Has anyone who applied been offered part time hours or been successful in requesting part time? Just wondered if you go in full time whether there would be any chance in reducing hours at a later date????
Hi Linda,
Ideally I was looking for part-time hours, although I could do practically full time and almost any hours within that. I am hopeful it is just me and won't affect you..but I was near the top of my merit list and have been waiting since June. Lots of people have been posted from the exercise, including lots on this forum. It might be nothing to do with part-time, as they don't seem to (somehow!) have any vacancies in any of the areas I ticked on my list either, but I honestly think it has something to do with me asking for part-time. Although, I did discuss it in interview and before going to interview.
Thing is, DWP bill themselves as a top flexible working employer and advertised as having part-time posts available so I think my case must be an exception. It was just a comment H.R made in passing that has made me wonder. Reckon after all this time waiting I am probably just getting a bit paranoid! Cheers.0 -

Hi Jamie - I live in bridgnorth and actually applied for the vacancy here. I would consider looking further afield at Telford though.....Let's hope we get some news soon.:o0 -
Received a reply yesterday to an email (one of many) I sent asking for an update.
Last time I was bluntly told that they were still waiting for checks to be cleared and my place on the merit list. That was a couple of weeks ago, emailed again for progress the other day and was told that my enquiry was passed to Louise Perry and then had the standard reply that quite a few people on here have got, "Jobcentreplus are in a recruiting position until the end of December. They will be in touch with you during that time if they are able to offer you a post. Otherwise they will contact you in January."
Does the fact that my enquiry was apparently passed onto Louise Perry and that it mentions they are recruiting until December look bad on my chances of actually getting a job? I've started looking for other jobs of course but I would rather they just say if there is a low likelihood rather than keeping everyone waiting. I'm not going to be too happy if I've gone through the whole process and all this waiting if there isn't a job at the end of it, I'm at the top of the merit list too.

Even though I now have a job, I still follow this thread as I am keen to hear how everyone else is getting on with their new jobs/endless waiting etc., and offer support and encouragement (and congratulations!)if I can. To date, I have not yet had "the call" from the DWP for the AO position that I am (according to Newcastle) No. 24 on the merit list for and which I have been waiting on since the dawn of time...... well, June anyway. Interestingly, there was an advert in this week's local job section for AO positions at the DWP in my area!
I know just how you feel, desperado2. How well I remember the ghastly 13 week interview, not to mention the whole fortnightly signing-on humiliation, being treated like a leper by the security staff (who seem to have an inflated view of their own importance) and trying to avoid the druggies and drunks..... with the DWP staffs' attitudes ranging from friendly and helpful to high handed, disinterested and downright rude. The signing-on guy that I saw, latterly, was always nice and did his best to find jobs for me to apply for (the job I have now is thanks to him). However, the 13 week interview was a different kettle of fish altogether. I was made to feel like a naughty child who hadn't completed her homework.
Good luck to everyone, especially those still waiting for "the call".
Lets hope it happens soon0 -
Hi, my 1st post here. I applied for EO job in Manchester area (irc64065)In October, and i had my interview/X-factor audition at the end of November (at Man Utd's football ground).
I received a letter this morning saying i've been successful and i'm on the dreaded waiting list. I have a few qs,
Firstly, i read above that they say they are only doing the recruiting process until December, does that mean i have to get all my checks done and actually get offered a job before the end of the month?
Secondly, i got my literacy/numerousy scores given to me, but i cant remember how many qs there were. Can anyone remember?
Thanks!0 -

Well done on your success letter!!
If you're referring about my earlier post about an email, I think that means there are no jobs on my IRC anymore and I applied for the vacancy at the start of August so doubt it applies to you as you have just had your letter, so you should be fine.
With regards to the scores, I think numeracy is out of 20 and literacy out of 15, if I remember rightly.0 -
Thanks 5footsix!
I got 18 for my numeracy and 13 on my literacy. So, i've done ok, i think.
I'll just have to wait to see if they ring. I ticked about 10 places as choices to work, so i reckon i've spread my bets quite well. They did all the CRB forms etc at the interview, so i have nothing else to do.
My letter says i'm only on the waiting list for 6 months, whereas i read elsewhere that others got 12 months. Fingers crossed!0
