Can anyone tell me if they have had any success with vacancies in the Tees Valley Area (interviews were held March/April time)0

Has anyone been given a start date, but told that they would probably not receive written confirmation, and just to turn up on the allocated date?
Bit worrying as have to give my notice in next week !!!!0 -
Hi all
I am about to enter my 4th week of training as an EO, initially I was told I would be a PA, I have since been told that they would now like me to do the role of Floor Manager!!
Can anyone give me a detailed description of what this will entail, I am a little worried about it....Jx0 -

I'm not sure but from what I gather the floor manager acts as first point of contact directing jobseekers etc. In my place the floor manager takes the persons book at passes onto the relevant sign on point.0 -
I can't believe this thread is still going!
I was posting here back in June and July and remember the excitement when it hit 100 pages!! At the time I was waiting on the outcome of my JCP application, needless to say I eventually got the job and have been working as a band C personal advisor for the JCP for 4 months now.
My advice to anyone still waiting is to be patient, phone Newcastle regularly and try to find out the number for the local vacancy holder who will always be able to give you more information than Newcastle about where the whole process is up to.
I know it is frustrating waiting for the DWP to get their act together but in all fairness the people dealing with the recruitment are not experienced in this, never has the DWP had such a large or widespread recruitment drive.
Anyone who does get offered a post I would urge you to accept, it really is a good job to have, obviously there are frustrating times, but on the whole I am more than happy to be working the DWP, they really do look after their employees far more than any company I have worked for! I originally started out working in my 3rd choice location which was a 100+ mile round trip each day for work, I stuck at it with a smile on my face but made frequent enquiries about getting a transfer to my hometown JCP, my line manager was very helpful and I can not speak highly enough of her, she really did all she could to help me push my transfer through, I eventually transferred to my hometown JCP last week. Everyone I have worked with, in both locations, has been extremely helpful and friendly and I really could not have asked for it to have gone any better so far! I even had to change departments when I transferred so it is almost like starting again completely fresh but everyone has been so helpful and accomodating that I have settled in very well and really feel part of the team already, just like I did when I was in my first location.
So congratulations anyone who has had "the call" and is about to start, and good luck and be patient to anyone still waiting! Working for the JCP is a fantastic experience and one I am sure none of you will regret should you get the opportunity.0 -
Yes it is still here and still going..
I think the number of posts has died down as folk lose the will to live and breathe.. rather than everyone being offered start dates though!0 -
Desperado - any news?
I havnt heard anything - did the online test for the newest advertised EO in Blackpool at the weekend0 -
Nawww!!! dont be silly! Did the pensions Centre Interview on Sat, but thats an AO grade - strangely they use the same OCAT as the Blackpool EO grade role.. And the interview questions were about leadership, management and so on, but the job is a dobby one working in call centre and Admin! - like I really need to work out what percentage of XXX YYY is and how many of the 75 faults were left unremedied!
I dont think I "want" Blackpool, the commute would be horrendous, and expensive theres one train an hour at best, and thats not overly reliable.. and 80 miles a day to drive would be 20,000 miles a year - not including any social driving.. which means a lot of maintenance bills and running costs on top of petrol and then there's depreciation to consider.. if you took the governments figure of 40p per mile, that equates to £8,000 a year.. half the salary you would get from the job..!
Would take it if offfered, and apply for a transfer on day 1 though!
Any other news/hopes from your end???0 -
Part time hours -Has anyone who applied been offered part time hours or been successful in requesting part time? Just wondered if you go in full time whether there would be any chance in reducing hours at a later date????0
-
Not got the job yet Lindalea, but given the DWP's stated objectives of being flexible, I am sure if you were full time, and the need for staff was faling, they would bite your hand off if you asked for part time.
I doubt they would look for part time to start with, because it means training 2 folk rather than one to do one job!0
