  • Hello, well, I have received the call, for an AO position. A couple of weeks ago I received the offer in the mail. I have to sign and accept/decline the offer and send it back. The thing is, im not sure if I want the position now. I know its sounds awful especially seeing that so many of you are dying to get the call. My question is if I sign and accept this position, and then a week or so later decide I do not want it, can I call and withdrawal my acceptance. Or am I legally obligated to start with DWP once I have signed and sent in my acceptance letter? The reasons for my doubts, are good ones that I dont want to post and put off other people. At this point I cant decide either way!
    Thanks for your help!
  • Jeeze ! Just found this forum. It's amazing to find so many people in the same situation as myself.
I have also received a letter offering a place on a waiting list. Received on 22nd September.
    IRC62150

    Has anyone heard anything ?
Who can I contact to find out what is happening with my application? I have tried the Newscastle number but no answer.

I imagine similar queries have been answered somewhere on this thread but this is my first post and there are so many posts to go through for information.
So I would really appreciate any kind of help..

You have freedom of choice no matter what you sign, you can change your mind up to the last minute or any time after you start, all I would say is please notify them in as much time as you can give to allow them to fill the position with someone else, there may well be complex training processes involved that could be wasted.

    Thanks natomar.

I received a reply almost straight away.

I'm a bit concerned about this bit though...

"Whilst recruitment activity has not ceased, the significant number of successful applications for these posts, as well as the size and complexity of locations and positions available, has necessitated a full review of Jobcentre Plus's staffing position and has resulted in delays in contacting candidates to offer start dates."
  • sammyjammy thanks for your reply. The fact that they would have to find a replacement for me was one of the things I was also concerned about, if I were to change my mind. Especially considering there are plenty of people waiting to take my place!
Hopefully giving them sufficient notice will lessen the burden a little.
    Thanks again...

Anyone heard anything regarding IRC64033(Band C, surrey and sussex area)?

I thought the lit/num and interviews were supposed to be next week... I find it hard to believe I failed the competency app form since I'm already an AO and been offered an interview for HEO in the past..
  • Slitty im glad u said that. I applied for a band C job in Forth valley, fife and tayside region IRC 64366 (i think?) num/lit tests are meant to be on the 17th and ive heard nada/zilch....lol. Thing is i applied on my works pc so all i had to do was click "apply now"...nothing else. It is showing on my RM as "active application" and i had a message saying my manager had approved the application etc. Yet i know 2 people outside work who have applied and got there phone calls on Wednesday asking them to go for tests on the 17th. Eek
  • I wonder (slightly off-the-cuff, maybe someone could shed some light on this) if DWP can/are giving preference to unemployed candidates for positions?

Part of me cannot understand whether the delay is in placing all people on the waiting list, or on shuffling priorities.

I'm IRC 60811 Shropshire & unemployed thus desperate for a job in case anyone is reading!! I've tried everythind else and today got turned down for a call centre job. I'm overqualified apparently
