    Thanks natomar.

I received a reply almost straight away.

I'm a bit concerned about this bit though...

"Whilst recruitment activity has not ceased, the significant number of successful applications for these posts, as well as the size and complexity of locations and positions available, has necessitated a full review of Jobcentre Plus's staffing position and has resulted in delays in contacting candidates to offer start dates."
    Hi Calgacus
Don't worry I think thats the standard we can't tell you anything reply!

  • Hello Everyone!

Most of you will know my story, but for those that don't:-
Applied for IRC60345 (Admin Officer) in June. Online SIFT test July, Interview and Success letter August, (no waiting list), Disclosure September with compliment slip stating all checks now complete, email October stating I was 24 on merit list and Business Services would be in touch.

Received the following letter from DWP today:-

"Re your application with Jobcentre Plus for a Band B position.
In accordance with best practice we are currently updating our records and wanted to inform you that you are now on our waiting list for the above exercise.

Unfortunately, as a result of a review of Jobcentre Plus's staffing requirement, we are not in a position to offer you a job at this time. However, the waiting list does not expire until 8th July, 2010 and we will be in touch during this time if an opportunity arises. If you have not heard from us by this date then unfortunately we will not be able to offer you a post.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in working for jobcentre plus.

Please note you will receive similar letters if you have applied for other Jobcentre Plus vacancies".

Thankfully, I didn't wait for them to get their act together, having taken a brilliant job at B & Q. I am so grateful that I did after this horror of a letter.

Truly hope that nobody else receives a similar communication. The week before Christmas, too. Their timing stinks
  • Does anyone happen to know Job Centers opening hours over the holidays and New Year? Is it just xmas day and new years day that they will be closed?
    Thanks

......this is exactly the letter I am expecting to get. My dates are much the same but I am IRC60881 Shropshire - their reply that if I do not hear this month, I will hear in January I am sure means this sort of letter is on its way. I think this is the first of many we will receive. Hope I am wrong. They really should tell EVERYONE at interview stage what the procedure is and then when we all got our 'success' letters we would not get our hopes up. I have even told my current employer that I have a new job (before I found this forum)...........
Thanks for such an informative post.

I have to say I think that letter is an absolute disgrace!
To go through the process of tests and interviews and then be told months later that it could be all in vain is quite shocking.

That is never a way to treat people in my opinion.
I don't want to politicise anything, but perhaps contacting an opposition (to the present government) MP could be the way to go.

If I receive a similar letter after waiting all this time I'm going to seriously consider that kind of action.
  • Hi all

I have now been for many interviews for both AO and EO. The interviews have been at various places in Lancashire and Manchester. I have been for that many that when I go now I have the Capita staff saying 'Hello again' to me. They still insist that there are real jobs to be had and are dumbfounded when I explain my and many others situations.
The posts about replies from Newcastle are rather worrying. Still recruiting through December ( we are already halfway through with the holidays to come) and that the rest will be contacted in January to be told the next step.
I have a stack of success letters with more still to come. What I want is a job. Success letters such as these do not pay the bills. I look forwards to January with interest to see what they have to say then.
