Hooray I got the call this afternoon, start on 4th Jan for two weeks training and like others contract runs till 30/11/10. Just like to say thanks to everyone for helping me to stay sane during the waiting time.
Dx:D
:jThat's great news Della. glad the wait is over for youI'm still waiting for the same IRC but I was 41st on the list, so I'm still expecting a long wait. Which jobcentre are you going to be at?

Congratulations people who have had the call today.
I really enjoyed my first day, didn't do a great deal but got name badges, computer cards etc and had a tour of the buildings. I had no idea Norwich Jobcentre was so huge! I'd been in the main building to sign on in the past and thought that would be pretty much it, but no there's 6 floors and all sorts of offices and stuff, it was like a maze and I'm pretty sure I'll get lost at various points over the next few weeks.
The people all seemed nice though and it seems I will be doing the fortnightly jobsearch reviews to start off with, which is fine by me. Apparently it is tradition to let people go at 3pm on their first day, so our manager actually apologised when he let us go at 4 as he had over run!
But yeah I think I'll enjoy it here, worth the wait and I'm actually looking forward to tomorrow. I hope everyone else starting today had pleasurable experiences too.0 -
CONGRATULATIONS to DellaD and cosmopolitan on getting "the call"!!!
All the best - hope everything goes well for you. Fantastic early christmas present.......................Enjoy!!!!!!!!:j

Hi Natomar
Mmmm they seemed very disorganised. They were running behind time. Six of us in my group were taken down the other end of the ground where they had been carrying out interviews for AO so that we could be interviewd there before coming back for Admin. I eventually got out about 5.00pm. Considering that I turned up in the 500 club at just after 1 o'clock it turned out to be a rather long day. I did not feel the interview went well so will just have to wait and see what happens. I have another interview this week for a permanent AO position and that is on SUNDAY. I thought Saturday was unusual but Sunday !!!!
How did your interview go? I feel it makes a big difference who you get to interview you. I do not know if you feel the same but it would be interesting to find out.
Yes very disorganised!! all in all was there at 11.45 for 12.15 app, waited until 2.15 for interview, there was a lady & a man interviewing who apologised for the delay, they asked if I had an interview for DWP before, I explained that I was already on a waiting list, they couldn't believe that people were interviewing who had already been successful, the man spoke to someone from DWP who said the positions are for a new project! the questions on competencies were the same, the interviewers were vey nice & friendly, I think it went well fingers crossed, there was a few interviewers I saw that didn't put me at ease, so maybe I was lucky! why do you feel it didn't go well?0 -
WELL DONE DellaD!! :beer:0

It started off really well but I had such a long wait and the box we were in was really cold. The questions were not that bad but it just seemed that the two females who interviewed me just wanted to get home. Perhaps it is just me but we shall see.
About the organisation or rather lack of it they even drafted in some people from the other end to help with the admin they were so far behind.
One guy ( a Nigerian) had travelled from London for the interview. That is showing enthusiasm.0 -
Congratulations to Dellad, Cosmopolitan and Thando. The week has started off well for you. Lets hope it continues for the rest of us.0

Hi Heather
Are B&Q looking after you? xx
Hi natomar!!! Yeah, B & Q is really great! I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have landed such a great job (especially after the interview from hell lol!) Staff xmas "do" this sat - all paid for (YES!) so have my childminder booked (my eldest daughter who is at Uni and wasn't AT ALL amused when I asked her - missing some drunken student jaunt or other no doubt).0
