    Hi Derek
I'm in the same position having had a successful letter with no mention of a waiting list and I think once our pre-recuitment checks have been completed we will be offered a position and don't have to go on a waiting list. What area are you hoping for ?

    Hi Sandramary,

    I hope you're right!

I'm in Scotland, and hopefully will be working in Midlothian.

Not wanting to appear a prat who hasn't read the information properly, I just wanted to say that I did read the details of the quoted post, I'm just wondering if someone can confirm the bit about different letters for different tiers following the interview.

I've read elsewhere in this thread that everyone goes on a waiting list and I'm hoping that this latest post is correct!

    regards,
    Derek

It totally depends on who is running the recruitment excercise,

The person who has done mine has created a waiting list then picked off succesful candidates, I recieved a waiting list letter dated 25th of last month and a pre-employment check letter dated 26th.
  • I had my tests and interview mid march and received successful test results letter and the pre recruitment checks letter 'if these are acceptable we will be able to offer you a post' on 1st April

I've heard nothing since but did ring Newcastle 2 weeks ago and was told that the pre recruitment checks were still being done. I filled my basic disclosure application in on interview day but have had nothing since.

I already hold a disclosure for my other job and wondered about sending this up to Newcastle in case it may speed up the process.

I appreciate what your all going through and its made me feel a lot better reading all your posts as i realise its not just me waiting ! - any advice much appreciated.

Afternoon all. I have just received a letter from the local council job that I applied for. I didn't even get an interview even though I applied through the guaranteed interview scheme for disabled people! Am absolutely livid that, although I'm disabled, I am fully qualified and able to do the job but the council have decided that I am not good enough to work for them. I only got a standard letter with a scanned signature.

Am considering reporting the council for discrimination. At least the DWP gave me an interview, even if they have still not got back to me, over 3 weeks after interview. They could of at least just said no. I have a feeling that the majority of the jobs will be taken through internal apps and it will be just like the last time!

Hope the rest of you have more success than me. x

There seems to be some confusion with reference to disability and a guaranteed job interview. The employer does not have to offer you an interview just because you say you are disabled. They still have the right to assess your suitability to do the job, based on your experience and qualifications. For example, when you fill in an application form and you are required to answer competency questions, if you do not show that you have answered the competencies adequately you will not get an interview irrelevant of your disabled status.

In most cases when an applicant states they are disabled the potential employer will usually assess you suitability very carefully to insure you fulfill the requirements of the job.

If you are suitable and have the right experience you will get an interview. In most cases you get far more consideration than someone who is not disabled.

You will always get a reply to your application, whereas a non disabled applicant may very well not hear the outcome of their application.

    Cheers

Most of the checks are carried out for security reasons to establish who you are and what you have been doing over the last few years -you are being employed by a government department.
References are not really an issue as all posts have a 6 month probation period so if something comes to light at a later date that you failed to declare or if you have a lot of sick leave or are just not up to the job then your employment can be terminated fairly simply

Just because you think you are qualified, doesn't mean you ARE. In order to qualify for a guaranteed interview, you do need to be suitably qualified, you clearly were not.

Hi please can anyone tell me if they have been through the 1 hour internet test and passed and then gone for an interview through Manpower. Do you then have other tests at the interview or just the interview its self. Any help would be great as my friend passed the internet test (had a phone call to say so) and is going for their interview. soon
