    Hey Topaz -

I agree - end of this month (hopefully - I'm dying to start!)

I'm on the Merit List myself for Shropshire and have just asked where I am on it. Where were your choices in Shropshire? If there's a God we'll be starting together soon!

    :T

    Hi Jamie
I went for Bridgnorth but would consider Telford too.......end of Nov. cannot come fast enough!!!! Fingers crossed for both of us ;)
  • Hi Jamie,

I was told in an email they have recruited the first person at the top of the list and I am 17th..... This really is a game isn't it!! I don't know if I should apply for more jobs knowing I have this one in the pipeline.... I just finished some temping and there's nothing else for me at the agency I use.... maybe if I sign on and explain I am on the list to work with them they'll hurry me up!

I haven't received anything in paper yet, just emails - but they said I had all my checks done! this has been such a drawn out process and I can't believe the jobcentre are contracting out the recruitment..... I mean this is the JOBcentre.... anyway rant over!

Yes I'm in Worcestershire and waiting by the phone too. To be honest it's been that bureaucratic that I have forgotten the job description and the salary.... do you know? How's your experience been?

    Rich :-)

    Hi all,

I haven't posted on here for a while because I got sooooo sick of waiting for a start date, I had more or less decided that this job was never going to happen...

    BUT

Completely unexpected I have today received "THE CALL" offering me a position. YAY!!!

My start date is 30th November.

I'd just like to wish all you guys the best of luck and to say thanks, this thread has been a great comfort and you guys offered a lot of support when it was needed in the 4 months since my interview.

    You guys rock!!
Hello Tazz2, Congratulations . Very best of luck for your start date 30th November, :jKeep in touch.

I live in North Staffordshire but I remember ticking every single option for Shropshire, preference being either Market Drayton, Whitchurch or Telford.

My experience? The process is a little long winded, but the people I've spoken with at Newcastle-Upon-Tyne (not the Newcastle near me :rotfl:) have been very helpful, as much as they can be. If I recall the starting salary was around the £17.5K mark, rising incrementally but I'm sure someone will correct me if that's incorrect. The job description will vary according to precisely which role you are recruited for (i.e. we've been recruited at EO job grade, not job role).

I just want the call.....................I've been out of work since May! I've applied for other role, including a DWP role in Crewe I've just completed the online test for, and I just want a call. Please. :rotfl:

    :A
  • Cheers for that Jamie!

I want the call too!!!!! I feel like we are all on some sick on line game of 'deal or no deal' here waiting for the banker to call!!!

I have been out of proper work for as long as I can remember. My partner is a high earner, so I'm lucky I don't have to worry about bills and stuff and I feel for all those who are struggling (another reason to give us sympathetic jobs in the job centre!) We moved to Holland early last year for my otherhalfs job, and he's french so he's got no real love affair with England. I tried and tried to find a job in Holland and even though everyone speaks English, they ask for Dutch in every job - even menial ones. So I took up theatre and played a lead role in a play in Amsterdam and did an internship for an online site for expats doing marketingg/ sales and a bit of editorial...... all great fun and new experiences, but no money!!

Now we are back in England due to his work again and I am not a materealistic person at all..... But I want to A) be busy every day and B) Earn some bloody money - splash the cash - book a holiday etc!! can't wait!! Sorry for the life story, but I'm so bored!!!

..... Staring at the phone again waiting for the 'banker' to call!!! Where's Noel when you need him?? ;-)

Deal or No Deal - I'd never thought of it like that. :rotfl:

    My timescale is something like:-

    Interview - 18th Sept
    Success Letter - 8th October
    CRB received - 11th November
    The Call - ?

    Somebody ring!!!! :A
  • richworcs you sound just like me. So how do you go about jobs here in England.

I went to a job centre only to be told that they don`t give you jobs, they are there for people sighning on. I don`t get anybenefits, but have no idea how to get on they employement wagon. Tried agencies but no luck. So what other options are there.
I could really do with some advise.
  • The Job Centre is there for you to find information about Jobs - not assign you a job.

    1) Why don't you get any benefits?

    2) Use the Jobcentre plus website as a starting point for jobs: http://www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk/JCP/index.html

    3) Agencies are useless in times like this for most people.

    4) There are LOADS of jobsites out there.
