Yeah I kept all my letters. Apparently somebody will call me... I'm not holding my breath.

Hope this doesn't happen to anybody else...

I am completely struggling financially and turned down another job for this.

Does anybody know if there's any way I can claim back the money I'd have earned on the days I took off for DWP? I lost almost a week's wages in all.

I think it's time you escalated this. First, ask to speak to a line manager or someone higher up the chain. Then, the complaints procedure is on the DWP website.

Thought it would be a good idea to stay in touch with you guys and gals as I'm sure part of one of the competencies is sharing knowledge and information where possible!!!

Aaaah. I'm tired of waiting. Even though it hasn't even been two weeks since my interview date!

Is it likely that they contact your personal references by post?

I think people arent realising that an AO post with DWP only requires a basic disclosure and hence goes to Disclosure Scotland.

Current turn around times are only 5 days, you can keep track of this on their website

The delays are only on higher disclosures

EO & HEO positions also only require a Basic check. The problem is so many checks are being applied for, of which many are duplications i.e. a CRB check for the same individual applying for different vacancies, the process has slowed down.

Aoki, re your comments above. My interview was End of Feb, as of today neither of my personal references have beem contacted but I have just been given my start date. there are various posts on here in respect of the type of letter, the CRB checks, waiting lists etc and the workload they have at the moment in addition to todays office move, I'd be just a little more patient?

I will phone on Monday eve if they don't call me.

I am so gutted and annoyed....

There must be a way to resolve this, right? I have all the letters as proof I have been on their books and also have had appointments at ATOS, so they must have had me somewhere and just lost me for a while...

    I hope.

Referees will be contacted depending on information given i.e. address, email address. The DWP requires something they can file. Either a letter/form that is returned, having been posted or emailed to those people you have put down for references.

In all cases references are only taken up after the DWP has received your CRB.

    Cheers

My references were contacted by post as soon as my CRB was back. I had my interview on 16th Feb and am starting an EO post this monday.

exactly! glad someone is on the ball!

also dont presume just because you completed your interview on say the 1st may that your checks will be back on the 20th - 21st! firstly they have to get back to us... which sometimes takes WEEKS! not our fault! people who interviewed you cant be bothered to post it all!
then your papers have to be checked and put on the computer to spit out the success/fail letters. at least one day!
then we have to check all your info is there! - depends on how many applicants! I had 500 and it took me 3 days! apparently that was quick too!

then they join a queue for the checks to actually be done!

best advice - be patient! I'll phone you when I know something!

The only preliminary CRB forms I have completed were for AO vacancies. For the EO vacancy that I am going into pre-employment checks, what happens? Do they have to send me the form in the post for me to fill in then send to Disclosure Scotland?
