DWP employment waiting list

I recently joined the DWP on an 18 month contract as an EO with Jobcentre Plus but I want to apply for a permanent job.I was wondering if anyone knew if you can apply for internal jobs with DWP whilst you are still in your probation?I have rang the HR department and they said you can't but then other colleagues say you can. I was wondering if anyone knew a bit more about this? Thanks.
They are both right.
You have to be in post for two years when you start a new job, this has nothing to do with promotion and applies to anyone who moves jobs within DWP for consistency purposes amongst others.
You can apply for permanent posts now but they have to be at a higher grade (promotion)."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -

as most of u will know i got offered a job for AO which was more of a marketing job, which i turned down, however i rcvd a letter saying thankyou for accepting position, which was confusing, on Sammy's advice i called them to clarify what was going on and see if they had anything else,
well a lovely lady called carol called me back today, to offer me a customer based position in a better location ie cavendish court, on same terms pay etc, starting training on Monday at doncaster, so i asked if this wud be ok as i had prev turned position down, lucky me as they hadnt got me down as saying i didnt want the position, i cud accept this one, so at least there mess up was a good one for me lol
so as of Monday im an AO and a very happy lady, thankyou Sammy and every1 else who has sent lovely msgs of support etc, im going out tomo to :beer::beer::beer:, good luck every who is still waiting
That's great news. This time one of their mistakes has worked in your favour!0 -
IRC61890 South West Wales District
I have had enough now, after yet another rejection letter ( Non DWP) I feel very angry, down, saddend and frustrated that DWP (Recruitment side) are allowed to treat us in this unfair, thoughtless way!! I shouldnt have to be sat here an out of work healthy 25 year old woman upset at yet another rejection letter, when i am "SUPPOSEDLY" a successful candidate for the AO job i applied for with DWP
July Applied
August Interview
September CRB and all checks clear
October Email telling me 9th on the merit list, freeze to be lifted end of October
Last week Email telling me they do not know, and can not tell me when or if the freeze is lifted!!!
Sorry for the rant, i had to let off a bit of steam somewhere.
Could some1 please give me Louise Perrys email address, Thankyou.
Can You believe it, as i clicked send i recieved the cal!!!!!:j:j:j:j
I start 1st December....... Dont give up people, just as i did i got my call:T0 -
Well, got an "update" on IRC62876 (EO Northwest/Lancs)
I got a call on Tuesday afternoon to ask permission to contact my referees (how strange..!) I was also asked for contact details.. I proceeded to rattle off the first address, but was asked for a telephone number instead! The person who phoned said "there's not much time" and phone is quicker.. (all these contact details were on my forms, I checked!)
Gave the 2 numbers, while typing an email to the 2 referees to warn them to expect a call sometime... the first one replied less than a minute later to say "they are on the phone now!!":shhh:
I also asked what the situation was, and she said that all my checks are done and complete, references are the last thing she had to do, then I would be forwarded to the recruiters at the JCP's and they would contact me.. she couldn't say how quickly, but 5 folk have already been appointed on this IRC...
So if 62876 is the one you are waiting for, you may get a call any day0 -

Well done Dezzie. I was on the verge of giving up too when I got the call and I too also had a rejection letter for another job that same day.
Strange how things pan out, but I believe it all happens for a reason
