Yes, thats what the girl said to me. Why do you ask ?
Going by the majority of peoples experiences on here I'm not jumping for joy just yet......not until I get that call next week.0 -

I am in the North West and the regional recruitment co-ordinator called me yesterday (she was following up on a complaint I had made regarding the sheer lack of communication), she advised that the business support teams in each of the five districts were conducting this exercise as the Jobcentres were in need of staff.
Hoping that the Jobcentre needing staff in your area is one that you ticked on your preferred location list then really, it does look positive.
She told me they were looking to place people before the end of November, however, that may just be for the North West.
I ticked four locations - Warrington, Chester, Crewe and Widnes - so I hope one of those are available.
I'm fairly high on the Merit List too (or so I'm told), which is also a big positive.
Thanks a lot also to richyvezy and linkster - very positive stuff0 -

Sam,
Are you able to put any light on this?
I can't really but it sounds very feasible, Jobcentres are still recruiting, I don't know for sure as I'm BDC side of the house but the freeze appears to have been lifted across Jobcentre Plus frontline offices.
Different districts will do things different ways (sadly) so some will ask preferences at interview and others much later.
In one way I think that as a Gov dept policy should be followed across the country but its all about local need I guess.

So after practically giving up hope the past few days after hearing the latest news, I couldn't believe it when I answered the phone. It gets better though, I live in Norwich but the vacancy I was waiting on was in Lowestoft - a 40min train journey away. The lady on the phone offered me a position in Norwich though, at the Jobcentre which is about a 15min walk from home!
I guess this is why I got lucky and still recieved the call, because the Lowestoft position was a Contact Centre one, I'm guessing the Norwich one won't be. Maybe they are trying to accomodate people from the Lowestoft merit list into other local Job Centres.
Anyway I start on Nov 30th and am over the moon!0 -
Hi
A week since I posted but have been folowing the forum as usual. First of all congratulations to everyone who has had the call, great news!
I have been waitng with no news since July, that was when i received the successful letter for IRC60076 Birmingham. All in all it goes back to May when I did the original tests and June interview! Iam sure it was all in 2009, but then again.....
Anyone with any info or can shed any light on this IRC?0 -

I was part of this exercise and so were a few forumites. Most were given the call. I inquired with Newcastle weeks back and was told they had filled in the150 vacancies they wanted. As the waiting list is for 12 months I am pretending that IRC never existed coz chances are very slim I think.
Good luck.I can do all things through him who gives me strength....:A0
