So after practically giving up hope the past few days after hearing the latest news, I couldn't believe it when I answered the phone. It gets better though, I live in Norwich but the vacancy I was waiting on was in Lowestoft - a 40min train journey away. The lady on the phone offered me a position in Norwich though, at the Jobcentre which is about a 15min walk from home!
I guess this is why I got lucky and still recieved the call, because the Lowestoft position was a Contact Centre one, I'm guessing the Norwich one won't be. Maybe they are trying to accomodate people from the Lowestoft merit list into other local Job Centres.
Anyway I start on Nov 30th and am over the moon!
thats gr8 news well done :j:j:j0 -

Congratulations, it's a great feeling isn't it?
Even though these contract lengths seem to be changing all the time (mine said 18months but they might change it when i start in a couple of weeks) maybe some will become permanent, i hoping so anyway, just got to prove to them you are worth keeping.
To the one saying they can cancel a fixed term contract without notice, i really can't see them doing that. They are trying to get people into work so why would they fire people (im not disputing that that is the law i just cannot see them doing that) i think it would be pretty low if they did aswell.11K Challenge

Same here except I haven't heard anything since letter of success dated 19th August.
Tried to phone numerous times but line never answered - left it ringing till I got cut off with "sorry there is no reply......"
Have you heard anything yet?
Cheers0 -
Same here, though I haven't heard anything since letter of success dated 19th August. Phone number just keeps ringing till it gets cut off.

I've been having difficulty getting through too (not this IRC btw) have you tried sending an email? RESOURCING.CUSTOMERSERVICES@DWP.GSI.GOV.UK0 -
Thanks for that, I've spent ages trying to find an email address (without success till now). I'll give it a try.0

Thats great news! Congratulations! You will be able to have a casual stroll to work now instead of a tedious train journey which would, no doubt, have cost a small fortune.
Hurrah :j0 -
Regarding IRC 62644 - Cheshire, Warrington and Halton area:
Anyone heard anything?
I've just received an e-mail about half an hour ago asking me for my preferred locations. I know some people are asked this before interview, but I don't know, seems strange that they're asking me now when I'm expecting a call... it might just be the last thing they needed to check, as all of my other checks have been completed.0
