DWP employment waiting list

Well first of all, congratulations to those people who have had the call today, it's nice to know some people are still getting good news.
As for me I've not had a response to my email yet but it seems almost 100% certain my reply is going to be similar info to that posted by unluckyone and sparky as my IRC is a contact centre, so I'm sure I'll be told to forget it. What makes me angry though is the poor people who haven't stumbled across this forum. There must be 100s of them out there, they won't have a clue about all of this and will be sitting there happily thinking they are to recieve a call any day now giving them a start date, a start date for a job we now know doesn't exist. And they're not even going to let these people know?! It's pretty outrageous actually.
I guess it is back to the job search for me then, deflated is not even close to describing my feelings towards all this.0 -
This just can't be right. There a new posistion for a E/O on their website, posted today. Not in my area but if a freeze on recruitement has been placed then why still advertise. If there is anyone out there with news on the IRC 62668 role please enlighten me.
I'll think i'll go and clean my cooker thats a much nicer prospect!!0 -

Thanks for the link, it made interesting reading and pretty much mirrors what the Hyde BDC manager told me yesterday.
I'm going to copy his email to here and you can have a read.
Yesterday I also spoke to Hyde BDC deputy manager who gave me an explanation that when the recession hit bad and we had so many people coming out of work and onto benefits, DWP went frantic to recruit further staff to manager the extra workload.
And now they think the recession is easing off they have more staff then they know what to do with.
But the NEW adverts for AO and EO contridicts this comment doesn't it.
I also spoke to someone in complaints yesterday and in a nutshell, aside from apologising that my expectations had not been met, they told me to forget about a role with the DWP and look elsewhere.
This completely added insult to injury as DWP have placed new adverts for AO and EO in my area. So why on earth should or would I give up hope.
I thought that was a pretty unhelpful thing for them to say really.
It's a joke.
Why tell people have have more staff they know what to do with and then place new adverts!!!!
Thanks for your copy of email sent to you yesterday. I now dont know what to think, do we all give up? in all my working years i have never known anything like this. Also, in my area (Reading) they are still advertising for AO & EO vacancies so it just doesnt make any sense does it, or is it just me. Anyway, when i came across the union link for October 08 you can see why the union were up in arms about it, they could see there would be probs this year and we have been caught up in it. i was told i would be working end of Aug and noone from the DWP will give me a straight answer to why as we are now in November that has not happened. Shoddy thats what it is. Where do we go from here? The stupid thing is i have asked at the job centre whats happening and they look baffled as well, they start looking at the ceiling or past me and all i want to know is have i got the job that you told me i had.. easy to answer dont you think? sorry, rant over. Thanks for posting your email tho. think i will once again step up the job hunt. I applied for 14 jobs last week, i will try and beat my own record lol.0 -

How can this be - new posistions are still being posted on their website.
Hi,
She told me this about Contact Centres specifically, not sure about other areas.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news0 -

I completely agree about the lack of communication involved. I only stumbled upon this website by accident, so like you say what about all the other poor people who are sat at home awaiting the call and who have stopped applying for other positions. I live in a big unemployment blackspot which doesn't help matters.
We should all petition the MP in charge of this shower and get some answers!0 -

Hi guys,
not been on here for about a week and it seems I have missed ALOT! I don't know whether to laugh or cry about what I've been reading!!
I am just utterly confused by everything now. Why can't we be given straight answers?!
I'm 10th on the "Merit List" for Derby in an Admin Assistant role. Still waiting on the call, been waiting since August...
It's so depressing!"you can grow flowers from where dirt used to be..."0 -

PCS Opposes Management’s compulsory transfer of 5,000 staff into Contact Centres
From 26th October 2009 all Benefit and Fraud Directorate (BFD) staff who are currently employed on BFD telephony work will be compulsorily transferred into the Contact Centre Directorate (CCD). Over the next 18 months all of the BFD staff at 10 BDC’s, whether they are currently working on telephony or not, will be compulsorily transferred, on a permanent basis, into CCD. During the same period the BDC telephony staff in the other BDC’s will gradually return back from CCD into BFD. 4 BDC’s will be split permanently between BFD and CCD. Management claim this move will enable more calls to be answered but they can provide no proof of this.
The following BDC’s to become 100% telephony sites are: Bradford, Sheffield, Newport, Perry Barr, Chorlton, Bristol, Glasgow Springburn, Leicester, Norwich, and Ilford. These 4 sites will be co-located: Basildon, Makerfield, Sunderland & Llanelli.0 -

Hi There. Yes, i posted the pcs website yesterday, have a look at it again as it gives other info dating back from Oct 08 refering to this mess we find ourselves in. Also gives up to date info for the AA positions as well, as someone on this forum today may want to find out about. Doesnt look good though does it?0
