DWP employment waiting list

  • Just sent a long email to Susan Bowe - the lady who replied to my last email. Will see what she has to say in response. This is so annoying as when I first recieved my success letter back on Sept 4th I stopped my jobsearch, stupidly thinking I was now sorted with the DWP, especially as I then recieved information saying I was high up on the merit list in 5th place. If I end up with no DWP job I've effectively just wasted the last 2 months doing nothing when I could have been applying for jobs. It's even worse with christmas coming up!

Hi, I've just spoken to Susan, that's who I deal with in complaints too, I think she agress that our expectations have not been met, I think Jobcentre Plus have failed to keep shared services informed aswel as the candidates.
The thing is, there's not many jobs out there is there, I've got an assessment tomorrow for a sales job (outbound) but i'm not sure if i'm going to go, i have NIL confidence in my ability or desire to do the interview let alone the job.

I am so angry I could spit...

Just spoken to the DWP and apparently I have previous been told a pack a of lies..

I received an email on 27 Oct stating I my checks had been cleared and I was number 5 on the so called "merit list"..

I phoned today to query my position again based on hearing about a freeze in Coventry and Warwickshire and was told my checks have not even been actioned, no checks have been completed and I am now 75th on the so called merit list..

How can these people get away with telling such blatant untruths?

Has anyone got an email address for the complaints department cus this is just unacceptable behaviour!!

God i am so angry..I've gone from thinking I have a job in the bag to now believe I wont hear from them for another 12 months..

I'm really sorry to hear this Darnay, this is all so very frustrating. I'm supposed to be 41st on the merit list but who knows. When I enquired about my place on this list, she said she could give it me but it didn't really have any consequence. I was expecting to hear you'd been offered a position to know that the IRC had started to place people but if I do hear anything before you I will let you know.

cheers Captain Cavewoman... I just give up.. It is the most inefficient, shoddy recruitment process I have ever had the misfortune of being involved in.. Phone number that don't work, emails left unanswered, CRB checks lied about (twice), merit list position changes, and ultimately they are just toying with our lives.. It isn't good enough from a service which is supposedly designed to be helping the unemployed and those who do want jobs..

    Utterly demoralised, and fed up

utterly demoralised and fed up sums up exactly how my dealings with the dwp have left me today.

sorry to deliver bad news but they said the contact centres have also stopped recruiting

I might have known. My IRC is a contact centre position. Having said that, it doesn't seem to matter WHAT position folk have been successful for - DWP keep changing the goalposts. Heartily p****d off with the whole fiasco.

Got a phone call out of the blue today for a position I applied for ages ago and had forgotten about. Got an interview tomorrow morning. Its for a permanent position with B & Q in their office. £9 an hour. Suit and blouse pressed already........:D

  • Hi all, Congratulations to all those with start dates:)

    Can anyone help...

I had an email today from DWP resourcing-I'm 21 on their waiting list and checks completed successfully. Is this the Merit list or something else?

The email also said that the freeze is still on until the end of November?!!!!

    Jess:)

You have had more than most people on here in just receiving that email update.
A waiting list is different to a merit.
But maybe it's just the way the person has worded it, you could call and check.
I would guess it's the actual merit list as they've completed your checks.
I just learnt that the checks are only actually valid for three months.

However, the situation is bleek and we are seem to be waiting regardless of lists.
