I'm absolutely deflated.
I can't believe we have been given such a run around.
I've requested that Hyde BDC get they're regional recruitment co-ordinator to call me asap.
It's disgusting that they will even think about interviewing other people for this area when we are sat here, ready, able and very willing.
I used to work in volume recruitment and I know that they would have spent thousands recruiting each of us.
It makes no business sense at all to not use up they're pipeline of candidates first.
I'm so angry and so upset.

Isn't there anything we can do? I mean does this make our applications completely void or will we be considered for the new vacancies?

I have just spoken to my local job centre that are advertising new vacancies today, they will ring me back as soon as they can find out if we are to be placed on the list for those or not.

Just spoken to the DWP and apparently I have previous been told a pack a of lies..

I received an email on 27 Oct stating I my checks had been cleared and I was number 5 on the so called "merit list"..

I phoned today to query my position again based on hearing about a freeze in Coventry and Warwickshire and was told my checks have not even been actioned, no checks have been completed and I am now 75th on the so called merit list..

How can these people get away with telling such blatant untruths?

Has anyone got an email address for the complaints department cus this is just unacceptable behaviour!!

God i am so angry..I've gone from thinking I have a job in the bag to now believe I wont hear from them for another 12 months..

I am not sure if this will help but I believe that once all your checks have been completed it will have some baring on the merit list. So many it will go down again.

Orginally we were recruited (35 posts for Hyde BDC) because they were expecting to get a piece of work in January 2010 that would require the extra staff.
That is no longer going to happen.

The BDC is part of a national project that is restructuring (you may have read that on here).
Consequently, there is now no need for us and there will be no job.

They have made the merit list available to other areas of the business but obviously other posts already have they're own merit lists to work through first.

I would send Louise Perry an email, I believe the address is louise.perry@dwp.gsi.gov.uk and forcefully raise your complaint especially around the lack of communication. I would also suggest that you contact your MP. Afterall it is a government agency.

I have just been called back and have been assured that we have been transfered onto the new list, where there are vacancies and the people are needed soon, the head of recruiting is in a meeting this afternoon about these positions, and we should hear in the near future. I have been told to ring back if I have not heard anything in a week.

I've just contacted Louise Perry and she's been very helpful. Suprisingly she wasn't aware of this at all and was even more shocked that you'd been able to speak to the Hyde BDC Manager. Anyway she should more or less confirm what you've just said, she told me to send an email regarding our IRC and the new vacancies and would try and find out a) what's going on and b) whether (now clarified by you) whether we'd be transfered
