My first day in my office went pretty good. Found out that i will be doing FJRs (fortnightly job reviews) and am also in charge or internal mail and the ordering of all stationary for the office (eek lol). I sat in with people today watching them do FJRs, new claims, rapid re-claims etc and it was pretty interesting. Also found out my training sessions (got quite a lot to go to.....but will be going with Victoria (victoriaplum lol) so thats good...
anyway just checking in. Hope everyone else is getting on ok xxx
Thanks Heather!!
Best of all, they told me they've got a company car that I'll get to use for all the training. WOOHOO! They must've seen my banger and thought it would be best to use their car so that we actually made it to the training! hahah!
Mandie, you're lucky! I'm going to be dealing with the Crisis Loan interviews when they start doing them face to face :eek:
Bring on tomorrow! More shadowing!:T
I'll keep my fingers crossed for all those still waiting on the call. xx0 -

Yeah liz mentioned the company car...thats not bad eh lol! Still cant believe weve to go to Falkirk for training but never mind!
Was actually a laugh today, that Kevin, the security guard was tryin to play tricks on me, gettin claire to ask me to phone and see why "Hugh jazz" didnt turn up for his appointment. Luckily i didnt fall for it haha!
ahh the joys of shadowing lol xx0 -
I applied for this exercise - they had so many applications that they had to raise the mark apparently - and my mark wasnt good enough to be on merit list so im not on a waiting list as such but a "warm list" - if and when they need me - they will call me in for tests/interview so its not like a waiting list where i've already passed!
The IRC I referred to was 62504, EO for Birmingham. Is this the same IRC as you sportfan?
Here is the telephone number if required - 0191 216 69620 -
I'm going for an assessment tomorrow with an outsourcing sales company.
o2 broadband campaign.
Outbound calls!!!
Can't say it is something I have ever wanted to do but desperate measures and all that.
It wouldn't be responsible of me to pass an opportunity to bring money into the house but I have NIL confidence in my ability to do the job.
It's made me even more sad!
Has anyone got any tips for a sales role or advice for the sales role play I will have to take part in tomorrow!
Do you just be yourself and chat away or what?
I moved from Newcastle to Manchester in June for better prospects.
But, the state of employment (or lack of) is scary.
I'm lost my spark since becoming unemployed.
My day has no structure, and the more I get myself into this black hole the harder I find it to try and find some structure... am I making sense!
This DWP situation stings even more than it normally would because I had pinned all of my hopes to it.
And why wouldn't I have, I mean, the DWP, it's a BIG government agency, surely we should have been able to trust them to get recruitment right.
I'm sick with it all.
Infact, I'm sick and tired of been sick and tired.0 -

I worked in outbound sa;es in my last job......and its mind-numbing work lol. dont mean to put you off! I was there 3 years so cant be all that bad i guess. At your interview you'll be asked to role play....they'll give u a card probably with a picture on it and u have to sell them that thing! Its pretty easy to be honest. If you have to do that one of the best things to say is that you'l'll give them a "free period" or if you read up on your sales regulations, ie "they have a 14 day cooling off period if they dont want the item anymore" and always point out the good points with word emphasis. You dont need to know all that yet but if you do...they'll take you on probably! Anyway good luck x0 -
what is an example of word emphasis.
what was the product you were trying to sell?0 -
also mandie2106, what about targets, was this like conversion rate?
you have to get so many sales from so many calls.
could you give me an example of one of your targets?0 -
just read a blog that said it was the most intimidating job they have ever done.
palm sweating, heart racing strees.
your line manger on top of you all of the time.
tough customers with HIGH targets to meet lol.
doesn't sound great does it lol.
if i had to just sit and make my calls all day, you know, like warm sales or something then i guess i could give it a go but like i say, at this moment in time, i have absolutely NIL confidence in myself.
how do you even open a sales call?
manage call control?
close the sale?0 -
I have noticed they are currently advertising for EO's in the Thames Valley area, I got my success letter for a EO position(IRC61715-Thames Valley area ) on the 6th September plus a week later Disclosure Scotland Certificate but not a whisper since !
at last I have found someone who has applied for the same irc as myself, I too received success letter dated 6th sept and CRB 21st september, I also know that my references have been contacted and returned, but have heard nothing since, I have today e-mailed employee services resourcing and am awaiting a reply after getting nowhere on the phone. thanks to everyone who has posted on here with information which has really helped in finding the right people to contact, i will post when i have further information from e-mail.0
