DWP employment waiting list

Congratulations, I think because you are 3rd then you will be recruited as soon as possible.
Whereas I am a lot further down the list @ 67/91 on the merit list for IRC 62504. I was disappointed to say the least when they told me this @ Newcastle. I thought I had done really well in the interview.
We were all told to use the DWP address in Newcastle for the CRB, so how will I know if all is OK?
Thanks :-) I was surprised I was even 3rd as I totally messed up the interview or so I thought. I'm hoping I will be recruited soon but reading the things on here, I may be waiting a while.
I think the CRB gets sent to Newcastle, they check it's okay and then they forward to you. It can take up to 4-6 weeks apparently, I got mine in about 4, but a lot of people have them sooner.
Well done for getting on the merit list, hopefully you will hear something soon too.0 -
I went for the test about 6-7 weeks ago now and had the interview a week after that, i reveived my letter of success and was told that they where just doing the "Pre employments checks". The person that deals with my JSA at the jobcentre has just started there and went through the same process, i asked her how long she waited for the CRB check etc and she said she waited 2 months. So i was surprised when a week later i got my CRB certificate and a week after that i received a phone call to tell me when i would be starting etc, they even sent me and email with a intro letter etc. I was pretty surprised by how fast the whole process was, tbh i thought i had dont badly at the interview and spent most of the interview having a good chat with the interviewers and didnt directly answer the questions. Looks like it worked though.
I start on the 16th November and its a great relief to be starting work, i have a 2 years old daughter and a girlfriend who both live with me, i'm only 21 so im in the highest band of unemployment so i feel great to have got this job, i have friends who are 1 yeay + unemployed with no real signs of that changing. Determined to make a real go of this job, even though i've read alot of forum of people saying it's a horrible job, depressing etc but i always say you only get out of a job what you put in. If you go in thinking "uh ive got to deal with these unsavoury people today i cant be bothered" then you will hate your job. I'm hoping this will be my stepping stone to better things, promotion etc (i know it a temporary contract but there is scope for permanancy) and i hope to never be out of employment again, as my dad always say if you have a job you can get a job.
Good luck to all those waiting for letters, or on the waiting list and congrats to those who where successful.
How nice to read your post about your success story with DWP recruitment. I am very happy for you and hope you enjoy your new job. You sound a very positive and, without wanting to sound condescending, mature person for your age (I'm nearly 50 lol!) and I am sure you will do well within your contract and secure a permanent position in no time.
Good luck for the future.

Just rang newcastle again to get an update. I have now been told that there is 125 people on the list for this EO position, not 91 as was mentioned the 1st time I rang after receiving my successful/waiting list letter.
The DWP have now passed the first 28 people on the list to be recruited and are currently doing pre-recruitment checks.
I was told originally that I was 67/91 on the merit list. However today I was told 125 less the 28 they are in the process of recruiting so that now makes me 68/97. I don't know why I didn't apply to Mensa instead of the DWP lol.
I took the opportunity to ask about any recruitment freeze and I have been told that there is a recruitment freeze and it applies to the whole country. The DWP are currently restructuring and deciding how many new staff they require. I know this is old news but I thought I would re-iterate the conversation anyway.
I was told that they would call me as and when it was my turn to be recruited, I don't hold up much hope now, I just think it's a utter farce after the competency interview.
I did ask if I could apply for any other areas, they said I would have to re-apply for the relevant IRC's separately as they are all different, some are face to face, telephone based, BDC etc, etc.
Sorry if it sems like I'm having a rant, I'm really fed up now after being made redundant in May 2009 and still looking for a half decent job seems a total no no.
Good Luck to all who are still waiting on DWP waiting/merit lists for a job !!0 -

Nicklt, so pleased that you didnt have to wait the long wait or that you were put in the 'Deep Freeze' like a lot of us, so the very best of luck to you for the 16th. Also, dont worry about what people say about the job, the JCP i have to sign on is in Reading and looks a bit unsavoury  but the people that work there are really very nice and very friendly and i cannot wait for a start date. So congrats once again and good luck. :beer:0 -

Good Luck to all who are still waiting on DWP waiting/merit lists for a job !!
How have they managed to conjure up an extra 34 folk on the list? Surely they couldn't have made an error initially when adding up? They should be made to re-sit their lit/num tests :rotfl:0 -

This is my story:
04 Aug - N & L Test
05 Aug - Interview
30 Sept - CRB received from DWP
20 Oct - Contacted Newcastle only to be advised freeze was on and I must call again in November.
27 Oct - emailed DWP - response was quick stating "I have checked the merit list you are 18th on the list, the business have started posting so will be in contact once they have a start date to offer unfortunately I don't have timescale when this will be"
29 Oct - :jRECEIVED THE CALL :j with start date 9th Nov and choice of 2 locations - BRILLIANT
2 Nov - :jConfirmation letter received with details for Monday 9th Nov and some stuff about Civil Pensions
:DI am now excited and looking forward to working after 12 months of unemployment!!!!
Question : 1) Does anyone have info regarding Civil Service Pensions? Searched the thread but cannot find it.
2) How long is EO training?TO ALL THOSE WAITING- I KNOW IT IS FRUSTRATING BUT HANG IN THERE!!0 -
