  • Anybody got any news on the recent HEO interviews?
  • CONGRATS linkster, great you got the call :)

Sorry you didn't get the call you wanted Sweetikklemunchkin but glad your happy in your new job x

I had a phone call first thing this morning lol, jumped out of bed, ran down the stairs only to find it was the wrong number lol

It seems they liked using the phrase "reviewing staffing needs" so much, the end of October finally came and they are now using late November.

Congrats to all who had the call today! Sweet, thats not so good that u didnt get what u wanted but looks liek u made the right decision for yourself xxx

Well i had my first day, it was pretty good. There were 9 of us at the induction event (both AO's and EO's). should have been 10 but one inconsiderate person didnt turn up. Knowing how desperate some ppl are waiting for the call that made me very angry, but hey! We went thru policies, procedures etc. We had an AO come and tell us about there day to day job and what to expect. We got told of all the different job roles we might be doing (apparently AO is just the level you are at....your jobs could all vary!) We also had one of the security guys talking us thru system security, personal security etc, and he told us some stories about things employees had done etc that got them in trouble (changing cust details so that payments went into there own account lol.....using someone elses smart card to get sensitive data etc etc) there are some dodgy ppl out there lol!

Anyway all in all it went pretty well, and i start at my local jobcentre tomorrow. We were told we do have to go to a further 3 training sessions, each lasting 2-3 days...and these will happen in the next few months. Until those are completed we will be doing job-shadowing!

Victoria....how did u find your first day in Leven? xx

One didn't turn up? How rude. I could have been there training with you! Instead, I've to travel all the way to Falkirk for my training next Monday!

Leven was really good today. Everyone is extremely friendly and it's very relaxed. I spent the day shadowing people and learning the various roles. After paperwork with my line manager, I spent the morning with the Customer Service (ie. security!!) at the front door, seeing the various types of people who come through the doors and the type of advice and help they are looking for.

In the afternoon, I spent it with two folk who basically dealt with admin, ensuring all the paperwork was ready for people who were new to JSA, as well as dealing with a few Crisis Loans.

Ive been told that I will eventually be dealing with Crisis Loans. Apparently, at the moment, these are mainly done over the phone and they feel that there is quite a lot of room for people to lie about their circumstances because they are talking over the phone. They want to do face to face interviews with people looking for this type of loan, but I think the decision would still be made by the office in Glasgow (where they currently phone), but I'd have to deal with their reaction as to whether or not they get their money!!

On the upside, there is a massive glass panel between myself and the customer, so chances of them hurting me are slim. lol :rotfl::rotfl:Also, this won't be happening for a number of weeks.

All in all, a very relaxed and gentle introduction to JC+.

Think I'm shadowing again tomorrow, but I've no idea what I'll be doing until I've done training as apparently, we're not supposed to have contact with customers until we've completed training?? DWP like to dot their i's and cross their t's!!

Look forward to hearing about your training tomorrow!! xx

Falkirk :O And i thought i had it bad going to dunfermline today lol! your first day sounds pretty good! And dealing with crisis loans will be interesting lol! At least u have the protection of a glass panel haha! I dont know my job role yet, will find out tomorrow, but was told today its likely to be doing fortnightly reviews with people on JSA....I was told though that until training is complete it will be job-shadowing, but it could be that its me doing the job and someone sitting beside me...ah we'll see i guess!

Theyre all really nice in Leven eh? That helps a lot lol! Well im in Leven tomorrow so shall look for you! xx

My N&L test was 14/09/09 and Competency interview was 16/09/09. If I remember correctly when I attended the N&L test on 14/09/09 there was 450+ applicants for the test, this is what I was told by the manpower staff. The interviews to take place on Wed, Thur, Fri 16-18/09/09.

I received my DWP successful letter today. The letter says I am currently on a waiting list for 12 months and there is no Guarantee of a position.

I rang the number on my DWP success letter and spoke to a real nice gentlemen in Employee Services Resourcing at Newcastle upon Tyne who told me after I enquired that I was 67th on the merit list out of 91 for IRC 62504.

He couldn't tell me much more. However, after some cajoling, he did say that the speed I would move up the list would depend on the turnover of staff for that particular area which he had no knowledge of so could not advise any further.

Based on this I contacted the Erdington JC+ and a lady told me that they had filled most of their available places for EO's and were close to full capacity, albeit she couldn't speak for other JC+ offices in the Birmingham area.

I could not find out how many EO jobs were available. However, I was given the impression that the people recruited during the summer have only just been placed at JC+ recently.

Not sure if this merit list of 91 people has some people from the summer months recruitment drive included plus recruits from September, or if this is just the September recruits?? If anyone knows an answer to this, please let me know.

If anyone else has received a response from the DWP to this recruitment exercise for IRC 62504 Birmingham, please post your response and position on the merit list if applicable. I would be very interested to hear from anyone else and their views to the response received from the DWP.

Thanks - fingers xd to all applicants

I hadn't received a letter but since I started as a Band B AO the week before my interview I got the details from a colleague who had also applied and sent an internal email. Apparently I am 5th on the waiting list but it will be at least a month before I hear anything else.

From my current training group I know that plenty of offices are currently at full capacity for EO and that there are at least 25 training groups with 20ish people in each. Due to this I don't expect much to happen for a while which suits me as I want to stay in my current office and there definitely aren't any vacancies there! As I am extremely new there is an outside possibility I could stay in my current office which would be great, in the meantime I am loving FJR. :D

    Cheers

    Notsluap
  • awww glad u had a good day, i agree tho u will prob be itching to just get on with it b4 long im sure xx

Thanks! Yeah ur probably right. Gimme a week and i'll be like "ahh forget this shadowing business, just let me get on with my job" haha

Surprised your letter mentioned a "waiting list" but then you got told you were on the merit list.

My letter mentioned no list, but found out I was 320th out of 400 on my list. There were 750 vacancies for this exercise apparently.

Still waiting to hear back from my CRB. The woman said it would take up to 20 days...is this true?
  • Hello everyone, i am new to this forum, but i have read all posts, very interesting and informative

I did my N & L, for an AO in Caerphiliy, on the 18th of September, had my interview on the 23rd and the success letter on the 29th of Sept, on a 6 months waiting list. I am yet to get my CRB, since it's my first CRB i didn't expect it to be this long. Does CRBs usually take 5weeks for a first timer???

Also i spoke with a friend that works at JBC+, and she said for me to be on a waiting list means i didn't perform well at the interview, and chances of them calling is very slim (This really made my day today, if you get my drift). Please did anyone actually failed the interview, and did anyone get a withdrawal letter at the end of the waiting period.

I am really confused, i am desperate for a job, and now this!!!
