  • Well I have just received the call, but I am not going to get excited yet!! I have been offered a position in my least favourite JCP as the others have no vacancies as yet, she said I could stay on the list till May but as JCP are coming to the end of their recruitment exercise there are no guarantees...

I have advised I would like to take the position but really need part time during the school holidays, so she was going to contact the business manager at the JC and find out if that was possible....

Have I made a mistake, should I have just taken the job and then negotiated the hours after training when I would have been in a better position???

Not sure if I have done the right thing but just wanted to be honest up front.....what do you guys think???

Coming to end of recruitment exercise, stay on list till May? I dont think I like the sound of this..............
  • I did tests and Interview for IRC 62876 (EO 18 month Temporary Contract Northwest Region) on 2nd Oct, got a letter a week later saying I was on the Waiting List. (stunned and amazed they moved so fast!)

Heard nothing since, so I telephoned the newkie number today after reading some of the posts here, and was told that the person handling is not at her desk (are they ever??) but "mark" looked up my file and confirmed that my CRB is done and clear, and it looks like they are just doing "prevoius employment checks"...

Dont know what these are.. I dont remember giving them any of my previous employment history (I will be good in Civil Service eh!)....

Pity there doesnt seem to be a vacancy for Functions Operative, Breweries and Distilleries.. they obviously lack resources in those areas.. :o

Does anyone know what the procedure is if you spot another EO position?? can you just phone up and be added to the list if you have done the tests and interviews already??

And what about other grades?? I got my Certificate for Numeracy and Literacy, but the pass marks were only listed for AA/AO/EO grades, do they use the same tests for higher grade posts too??
  • Desperado - your in the same boat as me
    Interview - 1st oct
    Success - 9th Oct

I did get a email last week from someone in a local buisness explaining that they have lost my preference sheet (which i hadnt even filled in)

sounds promising that things are moving though.

looking at the rest of the topic though we could be in for a long wait

I GOT THE CALL!!! Someone pinch me!!!

Can't believe it managed to get an ideal location as well! Start 23rd November. They've changed the goal posts though it's now only a 12 month contract.

Thanks to everyone who's provided info and moral support, good luck to everyone!

Anyone else on this IRC hold tight.

    It's been a long 4 months!
Hey Pablo :jwell done to you
  • Well done to you folks with placements.

I received the following email today after emailing RESOURCING.CUSTOMERSERVICES@DWP.GSI.GOV.UK:-

"You are 92nd on the merit list. The business will contact you once they have a position to offer you, at the minute I don't have any timescales when this will be."

I've no idea what this really means in terms of when I'll get offered a position, but fingers crossed!

    :)

The cheque process seems quite strange given the info above, maybe they have had system issues.

My cheque arrived in the post today (surprised the postie was working but very pleased). Actually, it is a payable order - not sure what that means but it converts to cash which is all I care about.

For anybody that is interested I started on 19 Oct and am on an emergency tax code but got paid £525, which is a lot more than my JSA was.

    Hi Desperado2
I am also on the list for this IRC. I think there will be a fair wait as they have not even started posting from an earlier one (but that was for AO interviews late August).
Re your question on the test, the test you took are only for AA,Ao and EO. Higher grades are completely different tests and tend to be online ones.
You must have filled in your employment history on the original application form. You have to provide them with your last five years of employment.
    Hope this helps.
