I just wanted to clarify what I said the other day, someone asked when they would get paid if they start this month and I said 30th october, I've just found some more info posted below so if you're one of the many starting next month try to make immediate contact with your new manager and ask about your pay. Apologies for the mix up.

    Sam

    New Entrants
    Joining on 19th October 09
May not have their RM account built in time to receive a payment on 30th October. These staff members will be paid with the ‘supplementary pay run’ on 5th November 2009 providing the line manager has notified ESR of take up of duty on the actual start date of their employment as Note above.
    New Entrants
    Joining on
    20th October 09
    or after
Will not be paid on 30th October. This is normal practice. They will be paid with a ‘supplementary’ pay run on 5th November 2009, or a subsequent weekly run on the 6th, 13th, or 30th November 09.

The cheque process seems quite strange given the info above, maybe they have had system issues.

Are these the only jobs in town ?

    Seems so these days.

No of course not! Having said that, there aren't that many in my neck of the woods at present. The recruitment process for DWP is protracted and, at times, very confusing. It's nice to compare notes with others in the same boat and receive advice and encouragement. There is too little of this sort of thing these days, in my opinion.

    Hi Natomar

I got a waiting list letter. I also applied for AO in Blackburn IRC62336 for which I was successful (no waiting list) and also EO Lancashire (Blackburn, Accrington, Burnley, Etc) (IRC62876) for which I got a waiting list letter. I am a bit perturbed as I contacted disclosure Scotland re my CRB for the AO position. They did not receive it until over 3 weeks after my success letter. I know that others had their CRBs back before mine was received for this position. When I contacted them they said that my drivers number was incorrect. I told them the correct number but that was after the check had laid around for over 2 weeks after they received it. No one had contacted me to say that there was a problem until I contacted them. This has also held up my checks for the other positions but I was told last Friday that all was now OK, although they do not give any details as to what the problem was. I know that there should be no problems with the checks. I am fed up of this as well as lack of info from DWP. I also can not understand why they are still interviewing for the EO position IRC61153 when it closed such a long time ago and they do not seem to have placed anyone. The whole thing is a total fiasco.
Finally today I got my CRB back and it was clean as expected. However why did it take so long? No one will tell me. Well as I said they had my drivers licence number wrong, and now it is a wonder it has been delivered to the correct house as the address is incorrect. My thanks to whoever said try xxxx which was correct. Perhaps that has a bearing on the long wait. I now also have to try to contact them to rectify their error on my file.
And still worse my local JC+ was closed for a while for refurbishment. I did not have to sign on for one month. I got one weeks payment in that time and now have to find out where the other three weeks are.

I had a similar experience with regard to non-payment of my JSA. I went into the Jobcentre to complain and they arranged for me to receive a counter payment that same day - its worth a shot :D

    Hi Heathertheblether

many thanks for your suggestion. That is what I was going to do. I have just been trying to contact Newcastle regarding the other problem but without success and so I have just sent an email to the generic resourcing address.
has anyone else had problems/delays in getting their CRB?
  • Hi all,

Just a quick update. I was a little tired of waiting around, so I sent an e-mail off to Newcastle yesterday. I can't remember the address off the top of my head, but it's the one that's been posted in here a few times now, so thank you for sharing it :)

I got an e-mail back this morning informing me that I'm 30th on the Merit List out of 72. This is for IRC62644 though, which covers a lot of the North West - such as Warrington, Widnes, Chester, Ellesmere Port, etc.

To be honest, I'm absolutely shocked that they're only 72 people on the Merit List, as recruitment for that IRC was held over five days! Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I went on the Sunday and there were a lot of people there, yet they ended up with only 72? Surely there must be more than 72 jobs going across the North West, given the fact they felt they needed to hold it over five days?

30 out of 72 isn't fantastic I know, but it's still in the top half, just about!

Anyway, the lady also said that no one had been posted yet from that IRC and that all of my checks and stuff have been cleared, so fingers crossed!

Just rang up Newcastle again!!!! There is still no news on IRC61139, all he said was he could no longer help me with my enquiries because all my checks have already come back and passed so its down to the business (DWP) to contact me with a start date. I am 119th on the waiting list, that doesn't sound good!! I asked how many positions were available for this post and he couldn't tell me.
Has anyone got the email address for DWP??

You could email the District Manager thats relevant to the post, if you tell em the area I can look it up for you or you could ask in your local Jobcentre.

Email the address posted a couple pages back.

I usually get replies within a couple of hours.
