what's the big announcement then sammyj? Also do bdc staff work in job center plus?
If you go to www.pcs.org.uk/en/department_...9929FD18F38AB1 you will find that the announcement is for telephony staff employed at Benefit & Fraud Directorates (BFD) are to be transferred to Contact Centres Directorates (CCD) there are 5,000 staff affected and its compulsory.
The move is supposed to enable more calls to be answered :rotfl:mmmm.
Anyway, thats whats happening today. 26.10.09.. i think!
You will also find on this website the areas are listed that are affected.
Just clicked on above website and it appears you have to be a member to view, so if you google 'SO WHATS THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT' you will go to the other DWP forum, scroll down and you will be able to click on the correct website.0 -
According to your interview scores one is usually placed on a merit list or a waiting list. The merit list is for those people who scored high and should be placed first, whereas those on a waiting list may have to wait up to 6 to 12 months. For e.g., if there are 60 jobs going, the top 60 people will be put on a merit list and another 60 or so on a waiting list incase anyone fails the crb checks or no longer wants the job.
Hope that helps.
So who knows waiting list, merit list???????????0 -
Hi natomar,
Just to confirm, read your comments earlier, the EO I went for today is def IRC61153; so, not sure who you spoke but they obviously got it wrong.

Hi, I emailed the address and it took about 3 days but got this
You are 19th on the merit list I can confirm that no one has been posted
from merit list IRC61302. JCP are reviewing staffing levels at the
minute so unfortunately I cant give you a timescale for a start date.
The business will be in touch once they have something to offer.
I really don't know if it's good or not, how does this compare with others.
I agree with the people who say they should be giving people an idea right from the beginning of how long this process takes, I am out of work and thought I had a job but now two months in a row I have struggled to make my mortgage payments as I was led to believe at interview I would be taken on mid september, it's now almost November!!!
This is putting peoples lively hoods at stake and it's wrong, there must be plenty of people out there that don't even have the reassurance and peace of mind that this site gives.
Guess I have no choice but to wait and keep looking for other jobs for now0 -

Hi Sheila
Thanks for replying, I hope you dont mind me asking when did you apply? as this IRC did close in August, maybe they haven't got enough people who were successful and reopened it which is good for me & whiskyman only joking!!! :jGlad it went well today!0 -
Hi,
I applied on 15th August, there were 2 sessions today, one at 12.15 and one at 1.45. Of the 12 on my session only 7 passed both the N/L tests and proceeded onto paperwork and interview. I am not sure about the other session and their pass rates. But I got the impression that today was not the only day this week for this IRC
Hope this helps. Good luck to all of us. Luckily for me, I am in a permanent position currently, but I really like the look of this position, fingers crossed. As I said before, hugh thanks to Thylacine who saved my sanity  I only got the call for interview back end of last week and the advise was just what I needed. :T

You are 10th on the waiting list. Unfortunately I am unable to give you a timescale when an offer will be made. The business will contact you once they are able to make an offer. I can say that no one has been posted from that merit list as yet
I think it's absolutely disgusting that my "success" letter doesn't explain anything about being on a merit list etc. The personal adviser at the JC today was even at a loss as to what to do, who to get in contact with etc. It's an absolute farce. I'm so angry.
NB: this is in regards to IRC61979 Derby
I dont understand what is going on either. I sent an email to DWP on 16th October and have had no response. Why are they advertising for AO positions in Derby on their website when they have a merit/waiting list for that area? If I were you, I would apply for the currently advertised position too - it cant do any harm.
My Jobcentre advisor isn't much help either. He would like to be, but he is also at a loss to explain. I am about to begin a temp position (that I don't really want) but at least it is SOMETHING. Would so much rather be beginning my DWP training............:mad:0 -

I would email again as my email was returned from last week but had a reply today from one I sent yesterday?
I've just found out that the IRC I went for 04/09/09 they are still interviewing for (today and the rest of the week) so no wonder we haven't heard anything! albeit there is 60 waiting, merit lists and they are still reviewing staffing levels, they are still adding to the lists, if only those people going this week knew what they were in for!! so I take it after this week, those already on merit/waiting lists could be shunted from top to bottom!! what a mess and ridiculous waste of taxpayers money!!! AARGH!!
Good Luck with the temp job0 -
Hi Whiskyman were you successful for this IRC?
I got a waiting list letter. I also applied for AO in Blackburn IRC62336 for which I was successful (no waiting list) and also EO Lancashire (Blackburn, Accrington, Burnley, Etc) (IRC62876) for which I got a waiting list letter. I am a bit perturbed as I contacted disclosure Scotland re my CRB for the AO position. They did not receive it until over 3 weeks after my success letter. I know that others had their CRBs back before mine was received for this position. When I contacted them they said that my drivers number was incorrect. I told them the correct number but that was after the check had laid around for over 2 weeks after they received it. No one had contacted me to say that there was a problem until I contacted them. This has also held up my checks for the other positions but I was told last Friday that all was now OK, although they do not give any details as to what the problem was. I know that there should be no problems with the checks. I am fed up of this as well as lack of info from DWP. I also can not understand why they are still interviewing for the EO position IRC61153 when it closed such a long time ago and they do not seem to have placed anyone. The whole thing is a total fiasco.0
