  • Hi all, finally had an email back! I am completely disheartened by what I received back.

    Carly

You are 10th on the waiting list. Unfortunately I am unable to give you a timescale when an offer will be made. The business will contact you once they are able to make an offer. I can say that no one has been posted from that merit list as yet

I think it's absolutely disgusting that my "success" letter doesn't explain anything about being on a merit list etc. The personal adviser at the JC today was even at a loss as to what to do, who to get in contact with etc. It's an absolute farce. I'm so angry.

NB: this is in regards to IRC61979 Derby

I have just received an email too, different IRC from yours by the way.

I am apparently 3rd on the "waiting list" and my CRB checks haven't cleared yet. Does this mean that we are on the merit list? I'm getting ever so confused with the talk of "waiting lists" and "merit lists". My letter had no mention of a waiting list so I would have really been panicking if it wasn't for this forum.

Like i said, it's an absolute farce!

I had my CRB check through a week after I was told I'd got the job. I too would like to know the difference between a waiting list and a merit list. Does anyone know?

This forum is a lifesaver for me, gives me a place to rant :rotfl:

I'm really confused by your experiences. I assumed that if there was no mention of a waiting list in your success letter then you were on the merit list meaning that you would be one of the first posted. Perhaps the 'freeze' is still on in your areas so everyone has automatically been put on a waiting list? I would phone up and enquire.
  • Hi all

Haven`t been on for a few days, so congratulations to all those who have had `the call`over the last few days. The wait is over at long last!

Talking of having to wait for ages , im still waiting and hoping for any news on IRC 60076 Birmingham.
Applied May, Interview June, Success letter July, Checks complete August.... then nothing!

Has anyone heard anything at all from their success letter, either been placed or told whether there are any vacancies forthcoming or freeze lifted...anything!

According to your interview scores one is usually placed on a merit list or a waiting list. The merit list is for those people who scored high and should be placed first, whereas those on a waiting list may have to wait up to 6 to 12 months. For e.g., if there are 60 jobs going, the top 60 people will be put on a merit list and another 60 or so on a waiting list incase anyone fails the crb checks or no longer wants the job.

    Hope that helps.

It really is. Grrr! Hopefully all this waiting will be worth it, that's if we haven't found another jobs in the meantime.

I had my letter about 3 weeks ago and I still haven't had my CRB back which is a tiny bit worrying as a lot of people on here seemed to have theirs back straight away. Although the email says it can take 4-6 weeks hmmm.
  • I had tests and interview for irc 61429 on the 21/09/2009.

I was told there and then I had passed the tests and then had the interview.

I am yet to receive any confirmation to say if i have been successful, I was told it would be 4 weeks and was given a number to ring if I hadn't after 4 weeks, but no one answers.

I've tried ringing countless times but it just rings and rings. Even got the adviser in the JC to try today and she had no luck either. She looked so embarrassed and coudn't be more apologetic, not her fault though.

That's what I thought as I assumed I was on the "merit list" as I had no mention of waiting lists in my letter like some people have had and it just said to wait for the checks to go through. Now the talk of a "waiting list" in the email is making me wonder whether I am on the actual waiting list and not the merit list. I think I will phone up and ask what is going on.
