Hi sammyjammy
I wonder if i could pick your brains. I commence training next week for EO in a BDC. I am really excited and nervous too. Do you know if flexi-time or any kind of flexibility operates in BDC's. I have to put childcare etc in place, so any info would be greatly appreciated.
Also are BDC's based in the actual jobecentre as that is where I have to go for my first day, then another venue for my induction.
I was so excited and on my way to my last day at work when I got the call, my mind went a bit blank!
Thank you.
Im not sure if this will help at all, but i asked about flexi-time when i got the call...for the same reason as you, childcare. And i was told that although they hope to be operational between 8-8 soon and flexi time will work fine then....they are only doing 9-5 most places just now so no flexi time option! however im working in a JCP not a BDC....not sure if they operate during different times!0 -

Thank you, that's actually very helpful think I will just aim to work around 9-5 times and hope for flexi time later. It's all a bit of a whirlwind at the moment! Away on a prebooked break for few days this half-term so feel like a million things to sort out.
Any mention of working on a Saturday? I so hope not as I have worked on a Saturday for 6 years now and so hoping to spend time with my children. Have you worked on a Saturday or just Mon-Fri? Are you settled and enjoying it now? It's all a bit daunting but exciting too.
Sorry to ask so many questions! but thank you for your help.0 -

Thanks! Are you waiting for an interview for the same London HEO role 63183 as me? I've done a bit of shadowing of EO's in brighton and most of them seem to have very interesting jobs - I hope you hear soon!
Fivefootsix - yep, I applied for the HEO out of desperation to find a job back when I was still waiting for "The call" :rotfl:
I had to ask my line manager today about having the afternoon off next friday to attend it... I felt a bit guilty since I only started as a Band B a couple of days ago and it's a small specialised team. I was so scared he'd be annoyed or say I wasn't suitable for that kind of role based on my experience but he was lovely about it!
It is indeed for the same HEO, but I guess my scores were not that great for the online test, although I did pass it. I am coming from being a highly paid professional in the financial service industry so not customer service which could be the reason I was not invited for an interview just yet.
This waiting is driving me nuts. I am grasping at straws now as I am caught between being over qualified or under qualified. Oh well, it could be worst.
Are you enjoying the brighton office?0 -
It's very quiet here today, especially as now its "THE END OF OCTOBER" and the freeze should be lifted... Huuummmm I wonder????!!??0

I've still had no reply to my emails which I think is appalling!! I have an "interview" with an advisor at my local JC today as i've been claiming JSA for more than 13 weeks now so they shall be feeling my wrath  I'm beginning to wonder now if I really want to work for a company that is so inept!!"you can grow flowers from where dirt used to be..."0
-
I've had no reply to my emails either and I also had my 13 week JSA interview a couple of weeks ago, I used it to sound off about how disenchanted I am with this experience but the woman was actually very sympathetic so I felt a bit bad for moaning to her.0

I hope I get some sympathy later on today then. I know it's not the advisers fault. It's just so very frustrating when you're trying to get answers (of any kind) and not getting anywhere."you can grow flowers from where dirt used to be..."0 -
Hi all, i`v been keeping an eye on this site for sometime and thought i might add what i found out today.
I applied for IRC61569 way back in July, passed all the tests, assessments etc and have been waiting ever since. Finally spoke to Business Services today to be told everyone who applied should get a call this week with a start date. I asked about merit lists only to be told this number is worked out from the tests everyone took and has no meaning to when you will be offered a post! Everyone who passes the tests etc WILL be offered a post `sometime`! If there are no vacancies at your first choice then they work down the list of choices you made until they find you a job. No mention of a job freeze!
Fingers crossed to all those waiting to hear!!!!0
