I was told 300 when I rang regarding my CRB some time ago. I don't think 50 is that bad at all because it's been two months so you'd have to think some people will have dropped out and also someone said that on average 25% of people fail CRB and recruitment checks.

Yeah, it does sound like they're gonna post you anywhere but maybe they have just put that in as a measure for those that do get offered posts far from their homes. Some will some won't. Either way, I'd rather have to do some travelling then no job at all.

    Hey guys!

Start at local JCP on Monday and i'm really nervous! Can anyone tell me what the training is like? ANd how long does it usually last?

Also, does anybody know how they determine your salary, I know it starts as £15,150 to £17k, so does everyone start on £15,150?

    Thanks :)

Training in normally 4 days. Policy, health and safety etc

Everyone starts on £15150 unless you were a civil servant before and are re applying within 12 mths.

Thanks for this. Is it on the job training for using the computer systems or is that in the 4 days?

Maybe you all received the same letter but the one I got today basically says in a nutshell:

    • Postings will take place in the next few weeks
    • Offers will be made in merit list order
    • NOT ALL candidates will be offering a post in this round of postings
    • You may not be offered a postition nearest to where you live

So, some movement at last :j

But, some people won't be posted as we suspected. Guess now it's more waiting and praying for a call.

If the original merit list was for 300 people, how many do you all think will be posted this time out?

Glad there's some movement at least. I didn't receive the letter, but I think they took me off the list as I asked them to transfer all my pre-recruitment checks for this one to the West Yorkshire vacancies for EO.

    Good luck;)
  • Hello

even i applied for the same role 62668 but lost the job description of this role.. can anyone please give me the job description of this one...
    help me out...
  • Well, things turned out good. Got the call on Monday for the Bristol-area EO role - I've been offered a position in Weston-Super-Mare, training starting on 23rd November. Rather than hold out for a position in Bristol itself, I think I'll go for this one - my current temp job's future is looking rather shaky.

I have a question for those currently employed with the DWP/Jobcentres - is it possible to claim back travel expenses for work? The pleasant lady on the phone told me that it costs £37 a week for train fares between Bristol and Weston, and I'm interested in knowing if there's any way for me to get any of that back.

When did you apply for this? My Interview for the same role was on 12 Oct, early days I know but anxious all the same! Just trying to establish a timescale of sorts !

My interview was on the Oct 13th

Do you mean will they pay you to travel to your place of work? The answer is no. You would be able to claim the additional cost if you had to attend e.g. training at a different office that is further away.

    Hi sammyjammy
I wonder if i could pick your brains. I commence training next week for EO in a BDC. I am really excited and nervous too. Do you know if flexi-time or any kind of flexibility operates in BDC's. I have to put childcare etc in place, so any info would be greatly appreciated.

Also are BDC's based in the actual jobecentre as that is where I have to go for my first day, then another venue for my induction.

I was so excited and on my way to my last day at work when I got the call, my mind went a bit blank!

    Thank you.
