DWP employment waiting list

It was my day to sign-on today (joy ) and I asked the adviser what was going on, why was it taking so long etc. Apparently they're going through a "major reshuffle upstairs" as he put it and that's probably why it's been taking so long to get start dates for many of us. He also told me his own story of how he's recently gone for a promotion, was told he would know by the 5th October, didn't hear anything. Was then told it would be the 12th and now he's been told the end of October. So it would seem it's not just prospective employees that the DWP can't give a straight answer to! I don't know if this any use to anyone, lol, but I thought it was interesting!! I was told just to keep "on at them" and that I'll get my start date "eventually". Time to start applying for some Christmas jobs I think..."you can grow flowers from where dirt used to be..."0

IE, if u did really well they will put u on the merit list (in merit order of who scored the best i guess)...the waiting list is if you passed the interview at the required level but not at as good a standard as others...and i guess they use u as back ups (hence why waiting list letters say they will try to post you but can not guarantee it). If youve been told your third on the list thats great news. I was 32nd on the list when i got the call xx
Hey Mandie I was right...there is only one list on my IRC, email received today...
I understand that all successful candidates in this exercise should have received a waiting list letter. It would appear that Jobcentre Plus initially hoped to be able to post those candidates who had scored highest at interview relatively quickly i.e. those at the top of the waiting list. This may have resulted in some confusion regarding the existence of more than one list. I can confirm that you are joint 3rd overall in the exercise.
I hope that this clarifies the situation.
I am chuffed but the news still is a bit in the air...especially as my CRB has only just been received by the CRB processing office....So I may get missed, they blamed the postal strike, which isn't true obviously...
Makes the list thing more confusing doesn't it....Jx0 -
Hi... posted this on the other thread earlier... didn't realise there are TWO threads!
Anyone else waiting for, or know anything about, the Somerset jobs?
BTW- anyone know what AO wages are? applied for so many jobs I've forgot!
Also- what are the chances of transfer to another office (The one I applied for is nearly an hour away), and what are the core working hours? Thanks in advance if anyone can help!
I posted the AO wages a couple of pages ago.
Pretty much no chance of a transfer, sorry."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -

Ohh i apologise then hun. What i was told must have been information for my IRC only....although it was put across as a general thing (the 2 lists). Maybe it depends how many successful applicants they get, ie they maybe know they only have 40 jobs for a particular area but have 100 successes. Best 40 go on a merit list and the rest on a waiting list (as back up incase ppl drop out i assume)? Or areas like yours, they might only get the amount of ppl they think they need so its all one list. Ahh i dont know, its confusing! Thats great for you tho, to be third overall is fantastic xx0
