Executive Officer and held at the Ramada Hotel in Sutton
Received a letter today to advise I am on the waiting list so I called them and I am number 21 but they wouldn't say out of how many
Anyone else on the waiting list for 62504??
Well Done getting position 21. I got position 67 out of 91 I was told. I am not sure how they work the positions out mind.
However, I do remember the two girls from Manpower who interviewed me were both in their early 20's, the one I thought was quite rude, she did not even look at me when she read the questions out. She looked bored out of her head!
Can you please post as and when you receive anymore information from the DWP ref IRC62504 just to keep me in the loop. I am not sure as to how many jobs are available - did you ask when you contacted them?0 -
Hi all
So I have completed my first week as an EO in my JCP. Except, I only did 1 day there and 4 days on an induction course.
The induction course was very well organised and run. I learnt a lot about policies and procedures. Also, we learnt about performance targets, our probationary period and what is expected of us in the next 12 weeks while we do our training.
Next week we start our office based learning which will consist of learning about our own roles (I am a restart adviser), an overview of the other roles in the office and shadowing staff until we are confident to go it alone. This is supposed to be in 12 weeks but there is no way I am waiting that long to start interviewing people.
We still have a number of courses to go on too.
So, although the recruitment procedure is horribly slow the in house training is well structured and very detailed.
One of the reasons for the huge delays in the recruitment is purely numbers. This week there were 4 induction courses in West Yorkshire for EOs. So, that is at least 40 EOs who started this week (we had 12 on our course). There just aren't enough places on courses or staff available for shadowing.
In my office there was 1 restart officer until June. Then it doubled to 2. Now, 3 months later another 4 have started. So, the team has gone from 1 to 6 in three months. It is easy to see why there is so much chaos and confusion.
As an aside I brought up the subject of the "freeze". It does not apply to West Yorkshire as the situation is so bad. However, due to course places being unavailable and accommodation issues the intake is much, much slower than anybody would like and the AO's are not starting until all of the EOs are inducted (except in some exceptional cases). So, for any of the 150 AOs who are ready to start you just need to be patitent. It will happen very shortly.
Bad news though for the EOs who did the recruitment exercise after us (in West Yorks) is that they will not be taken on this side of Christmas. This is puely because you will not have had sufficient training to be left in an office to answer the phones in a competent manner over the Christmas period.
Believe it or not that is why 19 October was the magic date. 8 weeks training is considered enough to allow us to be answering phones without causing all hell to break loose.0 -

Thanks for your post, Counterfeit. Sounds like the training is well organised.
I was in the EO batch after you, so looks like I will have to stay put where I am until after Christmas, which I dare say will make them happy -but not me cos the wages are really poor :rotfl:0 -

Congratulations on getting started.
Thank you that was really useful, I am a bit nervous about what to expect and what the training plan will look like. You seem to be impressed with the training and have clarified a several things for me. I feel very fortunate getting the call. As I was thinking it would be after Christmas [or never].
My IRC was specifically for EO in Halifax. I have a friend who passed her EO for a West Yorkshire IRC [she is at present an AO in Halifax] and she is no wiser as to when she could hope to be posted, so as said earlier it would seem internal applicants also have an uncertain wait too.
My role is for EO in BDC. Anyone got any experiences to share?0 -
Well what a brilliant morning!! I just got my Success Letter for the EO role Irc 62668 with no mention of a waiting list. Wonder how long the checks will take this time! Hopefully i will be able to move from my AO role when i get the Call!0

Well done JackDaniels!!:j
When did you apply for this? My Interview for the same role was on 12 Oct, early days I know but anxious all the same! Just trying to establish a timescale of sorts!

Maybe you all received the same letter but the one I got today basically says in a nutshell:- Postings will take place in the next few weeks
- Offers will be made in merit list order
- NOT ALL candidates will be offering a post in this round of postings
- You may not be offered a postition nearest to where you live
So, some movement at last :j
But, some people won't be posted as we suspected. Guess now it's more waiting and praying for a call.
If the original merit list was for 300 people, how many do you all think will be posted this time out?0 -
Hey guys!
Start at local JCP on Monday and i'm really nervous! Can anyone tell me what the training is like? ANd how long does it usually last?
Also, does anybody know how they determine your salary, I know it starts as £15,150 to £17k, so does everyone start on £15,150?
Thanks0 -

I got the same letter this morning so looking good but then the success letter looked good too. Maybe I've lost confidence on this one but why do I feel I'm gonna be offered a position miles away, have a car but not the point 15k doesn't stretch that far.
Was there originally 300 positions or was that a rumour. At last check I Was 50 odd that's a lot of calls still before me!
What I want to know is how many will get posted this time around and when the next posting will be and how many will be on that one.
It's just another two weeks to get excited about a call that may or may not happen then what another freeze, a waiting list!! ?
Don't think anything other than 'the call' and a start date is going to eleviate my frustrations!0
