Yes, the grandpa of the waiting forum finally got the call so that means there's hope for everyone!

Congrats AOboy, may I ask if this is for AO or EO and what location in London, thanks.

London Jobcentres were never part of the freeze.

    Congratulations on the start date.

    Cheers sammyjammy.

I was told by a DWP person on the phone that the freeze was all encompassing. Guess it was just another piece of nonsense DWP info I've received over the last 6 months.

After much deliberation, I have decided to take the job that I have been offered with Social Services. Its a "maternity leave" post, so only till xmas but, even so, the additional experience and MONEY will be very welcome. If I do get "the call" eventually, I will re-assess my position at that time. Also, you never know what is going to come from a temporary position - there could be internal vacancies etc. :D

Good idea & well done. It's best to have any job rather than wait for something which you don't have any start date for. The call will come but Christmas is just around the corner :-)

I still cannot find out what is going on with London. Several people seem to have got the call for AO posts in London--but what about the EO posts? I have been waiting since June.

Am really fed up and depressed--there is only so much telly you can watch!

Don't worry grey eyes. I've been waiting since May!!!

To say it is/has been complicated is a bit of an understatement, no excuse for people to give out duff info though hey!

what's the big announcement then sammyj? Also do bdc staff work in job center plus?

Not sure what announcement you mean ;), I think you'll find its on a seperate thread.

Yes BDC means Benefit Delivery Centre and its where the Jobcentre Plus benefits are processed.

Well, I've had my first three days in the brighton office - everyone has been so nice! I hope all the other new starters around the country are getting along well.

Nice one Heather, money will come in handy for xmas!! it will make the wait easier, like you say there could be more vacancies, and after AOBoy waiting since MAY!!!! it could be a while longer, Good Luck anyway

Here goes.... Ohmigod there I am setting off for my last shift at work. [facing unemployment] When my mobile rings and yes it was the call! Can't believe it still in shock! As I no longer have to give four weeks notice from my job I am now going to start on 2nd of November so I have half term with kids and to get everything I need to in place! [and buy some clothes as I wore a uniform and only have jeans and the odd dress!]
So I interviewed 3rd August, success letter 14th August, disclosure check a week later and then like all of us nothing! I would still have been no wiser without this forum!
My post is for EO in Halifax BDC.
Yes it has been tearful and stressful but I can now breathe a big sigh of relief.
It was fab to go in for my last shift and say YES I have got a start date instead of evading the question.
    I hope this gives hope!
Also something to bear in mind, I sent a lengthy email to the resourcing email address posted on this forum. Will never know if it speeded things up or a coincidence but something to bear in mind.
Yay am so excited and good luck to everyone ready to start and extra luck to everyone still waiting.
Will keep you posted about training etc.
p.s This forum is the only thing that has kept me sane!
