Can someone please clarify the difference, is there is one, between being on the Merit List and the Waiting List?

According to your interview scores one is usually placed on a merit list or a waiting list. The merit list is for those people who scored high and should be placed first, whereas those on a waiting list may have to wait up to 6 to 12 months. For e.g., if there are 60 jobs going, the top 60 people will be put on a merit list and another 60 or so on a waiting list incase anyone fails the crb checks or no longer wants the job.

    Hope that helps.

I emailed that address and got near instant replies.

Apparently I'm 320th out of 400!! My interview went really badly, so no wonder I'm so low.

I won't hold out much hope then!

    Hi All,

Did anyone save the original job description from the website for this IRC? I can't find my copy:confused: I am trying to remember what the areas covered were and also if it was a perm or contract.

    Thanks

    Sheila

Hey yeah, I sent an email last week to central resourcing basically asking what the state of play was regarding my application. I got the following reply this morning..

"I can confirm your checks have cleared. You are 5th on merit list. Unfortunately I am unable to give you a timescale when the business will be able to offer you a start date. the business will be in contact once they are in a position to do so."

I applied for a general Admin Assistant role in Coventry and Warwickshire, least that's what it said on the IRC 61880 job spec I saved..

give RESOURCING.CUSTOMERSERVICES@DWP.GSI.GOV.UK an email and see what they say.. Stay in-touch, we could be on the same course!! I'm Nuneaton based..

After reading your message I decided to ring the woman back on my letter, she said she had received my e-mail and all checks were clear although she would need a copy of my birth certificate before I could start as my passport was out of date. I will send a copy this afternoon. I am in Nuneaton too. Do you know if the jobs are for the specific job centre you applied for or the area. I didn't actually apply for the Nuneaton JC. I also found out i was 41 on the merit list.

good news then, so we just have to wait and wait and wait and no doubt wait some more until they decide where they need people in Coventry and Warwickshire, and pop on a training course for us... Like I said I didn't apply for any specific Job Centre, it was just a Coventry and Warwickshire wide advert.

    Well done!

Maybe the AOs will now start to be processed. 30th November would be the perfect start date for me. The fact that not all of us that have been successful will be posted this time out makes the waiting even worse. I just hope at least half of the list will be posted.

When I rang up about a month ago I was told that I was between 32 and 42 on the list (there were 10 of us with the same score), but im sure some people would have dropped out during that time. Good luck!
