the teams that do the checks are VERY overworked. I know it doesnt really help at a personal level but they'll most likely have just put you in a pile saying "i'll phone them later" and maybe didn't get around to it. it's incredibly hard at the moment as everyone is overworked and stressed and recruitment seems to be blaming checks and checks blame recruitment.
customer relations is also overworked so if you complain dont expect that to be dealt with quickly![/QUOTE]

The complaints guidelines on the DWP website say:

    Complaints

DWP recruitment processes are underpinned by the principle of selection for appointment on merit on the basis of fair and open competition as outlined in the Civil Service Commissioners' Recruitment Code. (This link will take you to the Civil Service Commissioners’ website.)
If you feel your application has not been treated in accordance with the Code and you wish to make a complaint, you should contact the person responsible for the recruitment exercise in the first instance.
If you are not satisfied with the response you receive from DWP, you can contact the Office of the Civil Service Commissioners. (This link will take you to the Civil Service Commissioners’ website.)

The overarching guidelines on 'Fair and Open Competition' includes clauses such as transparency, timeliness and accountability, as outlined. The complaints process starts with 'the person responsible for the recruitment exercise in the first instance' but can quickly be elevated.

Well done to those who have been successful at their interviews. I think I will just give up and accept that even though I have the experience of working for DWP I have not got this job even though I know I can do it but will just have to look for something else.

After being told I would hear within 2 weeks (and the last time I applied it was within 2 weeks) there's no letter today so just going to accept that I didn't get the job.

Good luck to all who are applying and I hope you are all successful x

AH! The disclosure form that is being processed is not for DWP but another job with Renfrewshire Council. The DWP form was returned to them 17th April. The wrong name was put on the employers registered person. They have not received anything back from DWP. I had to phone jobcentre I have start date from and tell them that there is no way I can start 11th May or indeed anytime in May seems unlikely. Well they were glad to find out what the problem was. Seems there is no disclosures for any starts. They are going to chase Newcastle up with that bit of information.

I think it depends on what disclosure they apply for because if it is a standard disclosure, it should come back faster than a Enhanced Disclosure. It is a bit annoying, i feel your pain.

Yes but the basic disclosure was applied for but sent back because of mistake DWP made. So now who knows when Newcastle will send it off again. Maybe it is lost, maybe it has been used for toilet roll? All I know is I cannot start without it

Hi Destiny. They were only interviewing on the day I went and the next day so the two weeks would have been up last week.

I know they are carrying out Basic Disclosures, but they say it can take up to 14 days for them to recieve them back from the Scotland Disclosure department. So maybe that is why it takes 20 days. I know you must be very frustrated like myself because we need to work to get money. At least we can all celebrate for everyone who is successful.

I got the waiting list letter for Manchester region dated 1st April and today have received a start date for a permanent position, unfortunately not in my local job centre, which would be walking distance, but I can't complain
