  • Anyway, the DWP's loss is Wakefield Council's gain. Hurrah!!!!!!:j

    And our bank balance's. :D

Also, there is the other bonus which is we won't be working together. I know we love each other but the thought of spending 24 hours a day together was beginning to concern me.

To all those who have been following my posts re interview today (non DWP)

I GOT THE JOB!!!!! and start on Monday, we can have a xmas and i can now get excited.

I just wanted to thankyou each and every1 of you for all ur kind words, best wishes and the laughs u have given me, these things have really kept me going, I am still hoping the DWP will phone (u dont get rid of me that easy) but if they do i will have a tough decision to make, but for all those others waiting, good luck keep strong and support each other as sometimes all people need are kind words or a bit of help to make them feel worthy again.

Yes I know what you mean. The way things have turned out, you will both look forward to seeing each other after a busy day at work and will have plenty of different things to chat about. The difference in income from benefits to both of you earning is STAGGERING! Its a hard life being unemployed and now you have been justly rewarded with jobs that will enable to to give your kids (and yourselves) all the treats that were impossible previously. I am so happy for you both and I know everyone else on this forum will be too. What's the destination for the first holiday?!!!!!!!!!!!!:D
  • We will have gone from both out of work and on benefits to having a combined salary of £60k - that's pretty unbelievable to be honest and we are so chuffed at being able to give the kids a good Christmas and look forward to a holiday next year (first since 2006).

Reading this has really made my day. Its so great so see people wanting to make a change in there lives for the better and you both deserve this break so much. Congrats to you both xxxxx

Tenerife and it's already booked. We booked it the day after we got our start dates. We borrowed the 10% deposit from what little savings we had left but we felt so good that day we felt like spoiling ourselves.

Most of you will remember that when Venus started there was a non-attendee on the first day of training.

I have now come across a very good reason for not turning up.

As a lot of you will know my wife and I were interviewed several times at the start of July for various IRCs and were successful.

We are due to start next week (the magic 19 October date). However, for the past 6 weeks my wife has been working as a temp at Wakefield Council and she told them last week that this Friday would be her last day. They said they would be sad to see her go etc but could understand why she wanted a permanent role.

However. today she was told that there have been some internal (dodgy) dealings and they can offer her the job on a full time basis.

She has been offered £18k more than the DWP are paying and it's not an 18 month contract. As you can imagine she will not be turning up for training with the DWP next week.

In theory there should be an opening now for IRC 60540 (West Yorks) but who knows given the freeze.
Thats brilliant news.. well done to you both.

Hey hun. If the guy told you on Friday theyre starting to roll out then you should hang in ther and wait for the call. 22 on the list is highly enough placed to get a call in next few days. Last friday i was told i was 32nd and not to expect a call til the end of november. I got the call only 6 days later. Oh and ive been well informed that Fife r crying out for people in certain offices, so much so that SOME of the staff in the office i'll be working in have been moved to an office in the next door college to make room for newbies. I wouldnt worry too much, maybe phone back tomorrow for an update. But i really do think you'll have had the call by the end of the week. xx

You'll never guess what happened today??!
I started my new job down at a local cheese farm - everyone's lovely and it's a really varied job. Anyhow, get a text message from my boyfriend saying JCP had phoned and I'd to phone them back!! Looks like I got 'the call', only he was gone when I finished at 5pm, so I'm praying he's in tomorrow before 9am as I can't let this new employer down as she's been so nice to me.

Arrrrgh! sods law!!!! xx Hopefully let you know tomorrow if we'll be working together! lol! xx

Woohoo! It sounds like you did indeed get the call! Try get them tomorrow before 9, or in your lunch break!! If it is the call and were both within the same sort of areas you'll probably have the same start date :D xx
