Just a thought. I've just browsed through a few of the vacancies on the DWP site. It seems most positions are for part time work 4-8pm @ ~£15 150. Am I right in assuming that when the freeze lifts for those of us in affected areas eg West Mids, we shalll probably be offered such a deal?

I know some people with families may not be willing but I think for such amount and such short hours I will be happy.

These posts are part of a pilot for extended working hours in Benefit Delivery Centres - they are outwith the freeze and therefore not afffected, they are also however only in certain regions.

I just wanted to clarify what I said the other day, someone asked when they would get paid if they start this month and I said 30th october, I've just found some more info posted below so if you're one of the many starting next month try to make immediate contact with your new manager and ask about your pay. Apologies for the mix up.

    Sam

    New Entrants
    Joining on 19th October 09
May not have their RM account built in time to receive a payment on 30th October. These staff members will be paid with the ‘supplementary pay run’ on 5th November 2009 providing the line manager has notified ESR of take up of duty on the actual start date of their employment as Note above.
    New Entrants
    Joining on
    20th October 09
    or after
Will not be paid on 30th October. This is normal practice. They will be paid with a ‘supplementary’ pay run on 5th November 2009, or a subsequent weekly run on the 6th, 13th, or 30th November 09.

  • What area in IRC61418 did you tick to work in? Have you heard anything off them recently?

Have you chased this up on the telephone lately? If it was for a BDC post it may be that they are now not filling this post, if it is for a Jobcentre (which as previously said would be quite unusual) then you still have a chance to be posted.

    Best of luck

    Sam

Thanks very much for your help :-)

This is looking quite worrying, wasn't sure whether the post was in a BDC or not so just did a quick Google search and noticed the job advert on another site and it was in a BDC. Eeek!

I only received the success letter (no mention of a waiting list) Monday or Tuesday last week and haven't received the CRB back yet, how long does this usually take? Do you think I should phone straight away or leave it until the end of the week? Don't want it to seem like I'm being impatient.

Looks like the job search will have to continue!
  • At least I'm not alone anymore lol. What area did you apply for?

I went tick crazy!!!! The whole sheet had ticks jumping out at me by the time I got through. LOL!

I spoke to someone last week and was told they are still carrying out checks and will be ready by end of month which is when they expect to lift the freeze. I am just impressed by the professionalism of the people conducting this exercise coz it seems they are the only ones who wrote letters to people waiting. ( I may be wrong). Anyhow, I'll leave them to it till start of November then I'll be back to my phone-calling ways!

  • There is hope! A lot of us were also told not to expect a call until at least the end of October (if at all), and many of us have had the call since being told that. Good luck every1 still waiting xx

Thanks for the advice mandie2106 and CaptainCavewoman, I realise that other people would have bitten the person's hand off if offered any location. I just called the lady up and said if the location was still available I would take it...it was so I did :j:j:j not really sure if this counts as a call but yeah!!!

I was asked if I was on a notice period, I said I could start from the 26th October.

So here's the timeline if anyone is interested:

5th July: Deadline for excercise IRC 61298
    30th July: Lit/Num tests
    10th August: Interview
27th August: Successful Letter (No waiting list)
    7th September: Received Disclosure Scotland
5th October: Received call offering two locations, my file was passed onto a District that wasn't local to me.
13th October: I called, asking if anything available if my preffered locations, nothing was but there were two available in a different District.
14th October (today): I accept offer, not in my prefered location but still it's a location.

Congrats to anyone else that gets the call, just hang in there if you haven't got it yet.

Congrats Thunderb0lt. Good luck for the 26th October :j:beer::jKeep in touch.
