DWP employment waiting list

I was wondering...are pensions really worth paying? 3.5% of my salary will go to place called nuvos. Someone told me I can't claim any of that back until I become a pensioner which seems a bit wrong. Surely it'll be better to stash away 3.5% in your own savings account? Correct me if I'm wrong.
I personally think its worth paying the 3.5% so u have a better pension at retirement age, but not everyone thinks like that. If you would rather save the money yourself your better opting for the "partnership" pension scheme as opposed to the "nuvos" one. When i got "the call" i was asked what one i wanted to be part of, but was told if i changed my mind i had to let someone know on my first day. xx0 -
Really? I saw on nuvos' site that you can backdate the payments after the first 3 months of employment if you choose to do so.0

Thanks for that, i will make sure to double check. The job description stated it was an 18 month fixed term when i applied so should be the same as my current AO role.sammyjammy wrote: »Its not wrong to ask but your contract will likely state that they can request you to work Saturdays (if they need you to - not all Jobcentres are doing Saturday opening)in which case you'll need to decide between Rugby and a job.
That would be a shame as i have only just got back into the game after being out of work for a few months!0 -

I applied for IRC 61298 AO Role
25th July: Lit/Num tests
11th Aug: Interview
28th Aug: Success Letter (no mention of waiting list)
5th Sept: CRB received through post (dwp complimentary slip included)
13th Oct: The Call! Start date Oct 26th, 18 month Fixed Term
I actually had my interview for the IRC 62668 EO role today (Maybe this is linked!!) I asked in my interview and the lady that confirmed my start date that if I do get this EO role i will be able to move to the higher band C. Is this true? Should i get a confirmation email?
Also she said that i would have to discuss my hours on the first day of work, is it wrong to ask not to work on Saturdays as i play rugby? Can i just ask for 9-5?
Thanks again!!
Congratulations hope all goes well for you0 -

Hey, congrats, that's great to hear. May I ask where in London you are located.
I am quite annoyed. I#m from 61298, I am based in Central London. I got a call from North and North East London District offering me two locations, I said I was interested in locations in either the Central or City and East London Districts, I was told I would hear back by the end of the week. I didn't so I called back yesterday to the number for the North and North East London District, the lady said the other two Districts hadn't got back to her e-mail so she would chase them up and call me.
She did this and later called me back and said that there were no locations available in either of the two Districts. If this is the case then why is it someone got Hoxton, Hoxton would have been an ideal locatiopn for me. I really don't know why my file was passed onto a District that ins't local to me.
Out of curiosity, I asked what was available in the North and North East London District, she named two, they seemed a bit far, but later I checked and one seemed ok.. So, what do I do do I wait it out in the hope I might get something in my preferred Districsts, or should I call up and say I'm interested in the location if it's still available, it's a tough decision...

Hi Thunderbolt, I think I'd be tempted to take the job in the other district but you would need to weigh up the travel costs and time as you don't want to find yourself worse off. I'm sure you'll make the right decision for yourself though. Good luck in deciding.
CONGRATULATIONS JackDaniels:j0 -

Thanks for the advice mandie2106 and CaptainCavewoman, I realise that other people would have bitten the person's hand off if offered any location. I just called the lady up and said if the location was still available I would take it...it was so I did :j:j:j not really sure if this counts as a call but yeah!!!
I was asked if I was on a notice period, I said I could start from the 26th October.
So here's the timeline if anyone is interested:
5th July: Deadline for excercise IRC 61298
30th July: Lit/Num tests
10th August: Interview
27th August: Successful Letter (No waiting list)
7th September: Received Disclosure Scotland
5th October: Received call offering two locations, my file was passed onto a District that wasn't local to me.
13th October: I called, asking if anything available if my preffered locations, nothing was but there were two available in a different District.
14th October (today): I accept offer, not in my prefered location but still it's a location.
Congrats to anyone else that gets the call, just hang in there if you haven't got it yet.0
