  • Thanks for the advice mandie2106 and CaptainCavewoman, I realise that other people would have bitten the person's hand off if offered any location. I just called the lady up and said if the location was still available I would take it...it was so I did :j:j:j not really sure if this counts as a call but yeah!!!

I was asked if I was on a notice period, I said I could start from the 26th October.

So here's the timeline if anyone is interested:

5th July: Deadline for excercise IRC 61298
    30th July: Lit/Num tests
    10th August: Interview
27th August: Successful Letter (No waiting list)
    7th September: Received Disclosure Scotland
5th October: Received call offering two locations
13th October: I called, asking if anything available if my preffered locations
14th October (today): I accept offer, not in my prefered location but still it's a location.

Congrats to anyone else that gets the call, just hang in there if you haven't got it yet.

Yay :D Hope u get on with that location xx

Yes, we are in this together. I have no idea where I was on the list, I was never able to get through to Newcastle, although I only tried a couple of times. I guess I was quite high up seeing as I got the call pretty earlish.

None of my refs were contatced, I guess they got all they needed from HRMC as I have been in employment over the last 3 years.

The lady said I would receive an e-mail with all the details. I wasn't asked anything about pensions.
  • Hey, congrats, that's great to hear. May I ask where in London you are located.

I am quite annoyed. I#m from 61298, I am based in Central London. I got a call from North and North East London District offering me two locations, I said I was interested in locations in either the Central or City and East London Districts, I was told I would hear back by the end of the week. I didn't so I called back yesterday to the number for the North and North East London District, the lady said the other two Districts hadn't got back to her e-mail so she would chase them up and call me.

She did this and later called me back and said that there were no locations available in either of the two Districts. If this is the case then why is it someone got Hoxton, Hoxton would have been an ideal locatiopn for me. I really don't know why my file was passed onto a District that ins't local to me.

    help!

Im based in East London, i was offered 2 locations, the one in Hoxton and the one in Whitechapel but the one in Whitechapel was going to be more telephone based. My induction is going to be in Whitechapel, is that the same for you?

Congratulations on getting a job and sorry its not in the ideal location for you

hmmm I took the Edgeware location, most of my inductuion will be inhouse but might involve travelling to Hendon. I wouldn't have minded the Whitechapel location, a telephone based role would have been good too. Oh well.

Just a thought. I've just browsed through a few of the vacancies on the DWP site. It seems most positions are for part time work 4-8pm @ ~£15 150. Am I right in assuming that when the freeze lifts for those of us in affected areas eg West Mids, we shalll probably be offered such a deal?

I know some people with families may not be willing but I think for such amount and such short hours I will be happy.
I can do all things through him who gives me strength....:A
