  • You are so right, that is the problem isn`t it?
I got the successful letter, told all my friends, family etc and here we are 3 months later and........

What do you say to people?
You can just tell from the look on their face when you try and explain!
  • Thanks fdennis,
I have been waiting a few weeks, and received success letters a couple of weeks ago. I guess, I cant really grumble yet....however, I am certainly relying on these jobs.... Keeping everything crossed!
  • Right....today!

We started learning all the hard stuff. Computer systems...trying to get my head around LMS (labour market system) so very complex....all abbreviations i keep forgetting. The office is so hot i am nodding off constantly. LMS is basically the data base that has all the employers and employees on. You can look up their details and get what you need to know for whatever person you are dealing with. We had a load of fake people to practice on. We decided that Mr Manners (he's not real) was a drug addict with incontinence problems oh AND he was an refugee!! Lucky bloke! Anyway, we 'matched' him with a job where he will be near a toilet. Happy ending!

Tis not as fun as last week, but this is the real stuff now, so gotta take it more seriously, no toys to play with this week!

Anyway, hope everyone is okay and are not too despondent waiting for 'the call'. x

Sounds like the training is picking up pace. Which is good - I can do without all the silly stuff. I just want to get on with it and get working.

Well some people only have a course that lasts 3 days, so you may be getting on with it rather fast :D

I dunno.....3 days playing with toys under the pretense of learning about discrimination and customer service was quite therapeutic!! That's why my head is frazzled today. I keep thinking 'where are the toys and sweets?!' I could of done without the two days at the beginning just talking about HR...that stuff is mega boring! I found out that to buy ONE training video for our training courses can cost something stupid like 800 quid. How mad is that?

    Hi,

IRC60535, anyone heard yet? Still waiting and waiting, my temp job ended on Friday so it would be good to get the start date soon, even if it is a month ahead at least i know nits going to happen soon, really could do with a good months wage before xmas!!!!

Everyone keeps asking me when im starting, isnt it complicated trying to explain to people that you still dont have a start date?

Trying to find something temp now to fill the gap only i dont know how long the gap is going to be......... going to have to start a JSA claim tomorrow!!!!

Hope all is well for everyone else and its lovely to read so many people are finally starting work, it must be such a relief to hear you have a date.

    Thanks for any comments x
  • I feel your pain... I was told I'm 22 on the merit list for EO position. Phoned on Friday and he said I was in Phase Three, which they were beginning to roll out today. Still no call. He also said there was a good chance that I'd be offered a position - but all depends on if anyone ahead of me on the list turns the job down.

I had a phonecall this morning from another job this morning saying I had the position and wants me to start on Wed. It's literally half the salary of DWP job and whilst I desperately need money, I don't want to be mucking nice employers about!! EEEEEK! I just hope they phone before the end of today to say I have the position.

What am I going to do~??!??!?!?!:confused::confused::think:

Hey hun. If the guy told you on Friday theyre starting to roll out then you should hang in ther and wait for the call. 22 on the list is highly enough placed to get a call in next few days. Last friday i was told i was 32nd and not to expect a call til the end of november. I got the call only 6 days later. Oh and ive been well informed that Fife r crying out for people in certain offices, so much so that SOME of the staff in the office i'll be working in have been moved to an office in the next door college to make room for newbies. I wouldnt worry too much, maybe phone back tomorrow for an update. But i really do think you'll have had the call by the end of the week. xx

Hiya Katie, nope not heard a thing and they getting more and more reluctant to give any info, just hope i get this job tomo then i wont be sending begging letters to the neighbours lol :rotfl::rotfl:
  • WOW btw ive had a productive day. Got a phone call this morning from my lone parent advisor Mary asking if i would meet a lady from Working For Families today at the nursery i'll be taking Sonny to as she thought she could help with a few things. So i went along and turns out they help parents with low incomes or lone parents who want to get back to work but childcare costs stop them being able to. anyway the nursery is costing £175 a week, plus £75 deposit and £20 membership fee. I'll only pay 20% of my childcare but they wanted one month upfront (i had planned to borrow it from family to pay it). Anyway this lady basically told me that the organisation were going to pay ALL OF THE FEES for the first month. And she also gave me £40 vouchers for clothes for starting work AND £60 for food shopping (lol). And Mary my LPA has also said we will discuss EXACTLY what clothes i need to get and i will get vouchers to buy those specific things also. I actually cant believe how much help there is out there that were not aware of!
  • Hi everyone, I'm new to posting but have spent the last 10 days reading the entire thread. Thanks to you great people for keeping me busy while waiting for the checks to be complete and the elusive "call". i know it's not going to come anytime soon lol, but I feel by reading all these comments I know you all. Every success I have cheered with you. CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who has received the call :) I also wish all those waiting success in the very near future.

I applied for IRC 61880 (North Warwickshire) AA post
    5th August: Deadline
    25th August: Lit/Num tests
    9th September: Interview
3rd October: Success Letter (no mention of waiting list)
8th October: CRB received through post (dwp complimentary slip included)

I have a couple of questions if anybody would be kind enough to answer. I see that most people on here are awaiting AO or EO positions, is an AA position just filing, photocopying etc.... I think I maybe should have applied for an AO position as I have experience dealing with people but have no office experience lol. However, when I applied initially I thought I should start at the bottom and try and work up.

I have applied for a post which was job centre specific. However, from reading all your experiences most people are applying for areas rather than specific job centres. There were many people at this IRC recruitment (considering it is a small job centre) is it possible they were recruiting for different levels ie AO, EO at the same time or maybe different locations under the same IRC. I have never been asked to specify a location.

Cavewoman, are you sure its an AA post you've applied for I don't work in Customer Services Directorate (Jobcentres) but thought they didn't have AAs?
