I'm worried that because i'm so low on the merit list (now 74 i'm told) i'm not going to get a position. How do they determine how many go on the merit and how many go on the waiting list? For e.g, if they think there will be 100 positions available, do the top 100 go on the merit list and another 50 or so on the waiting list in case someone drops out?0

Goodness only knows how they work it. I had 1 "success" letter and 1 "waiting list" letter, both for AO positions. Apart from my 2 Disclosure Certificates (which both arrived with compliment slips) I have heard nothing else. Is it significant that one disclosure came from "business services" and the second from "employee resourcing"? I havent a clue what this means. I have no idea if I am on a merit list or not. At the interview, I was told there were 20 positions, due to start at end of September.............:rolleyes:I'm worried that because i'm so low on the merit list (now 74 i'm told) i'm not going to get a position. The way the application process is is just so strange. Its strange to send out a successful letter if a job isn't actually available yet. Not to mention the whole merit list and waiting list thing.....0 -
Right....today!
We started learning all the hard stuff. Computer systems...trying to get my head around LMS (labour market system) so very complex....all abbreviations i keep forgetting. The office is so hot i am nodding off constantly. LMS is basically the data base that has all the employers or jobseekers and employees on. You can look up their details and get what you need to know for whatever person you are dealing with. We had a load of fake people to practice on. We decided that Mr Manners (he's not real) was a drug addict with incontinence problems oh AND he was an refugee!! Lucky bloke! Anyway, we 'matched' him with a job where he will be near a toilet. Happy ending!
Tis not as fun as last week, but this is the real stuff now, so gotta take it more seriously, no toys to play with this week!
Anyway, hope everyone is okay and are not too despondent waiting for 'the call'. x"You dont need a weather man to know which way the wind blows"0 -
Yes, I know. Stupid mare that I am, I told EVERYONE that I had a job at long last and now I have ended up with egg on my face. Everyone keeps asking me "hows the job going" and I cringe and tell them that I havent actually got a start date yet and I can tell they are all thinking I am a liar/idiot/complete waste of space.......I only have myself to blame for assuming that the "success" letter was a job "in the bag" and feel completely stupid for doing so. What's worse is that I told my kids and now they keep asking me when "its all happening". It makes me feel like I have let them down..........:oThe way the application process is is just so strange.
